Vendetta - Curse of Raven's Cry the big update to the poorly recieved Raven's Cry is now available on Linux & SteamOS.
I really hope they have fixed the game up properly, and if you own Raven's Cry you can get a free copy, but you need to manually request it.
There are no reviews yet, so it's not clear if it's actually any better. I'm not willing to spend £31.49 right now to see if it's worth it or not either considering the history. What I don't like is that they have now hidden the original release on Steam, to hide the poor reviews of course. I don't agree with that approach, as it's quite obvious they are hiding the past of the game.
About the game
Vendetta: Curse of Raven’s Cry is a third person, open world action-RPG that combines fast-paced swordplay with thrilling naval battles and exploration. Assume the role of dread pirate Christopher Raven and take your revenge on Captain Neville Scranton and the men who killed your family. Loot, sail, shoot and stab your way through myriad missions and side-quests, and explore the sprawling West Antilles by land or by sea. Hand pick your crew, upgrade your skills and your ship, and gain a reputation for either savagery or mercy, influencing how your friends and foes interact with you. Every choice has a price, and your decisions will bring you closer to your ultimate revenge. Getting there with your soul intact is up to you.

When DeepSilver publish Metro Redux, they also remove from Steam Store Page also Metro Last Light. So what? Venddeta is something like Redux or Remastered version of old title.

I think it's an issue with Steam allowing such a thing really, as it's open to abuse I feel in cases like this where the game was obviously in a terrible state. I just hope these developers have learnt their lesson.

Edit: Finished downloading and playing the game now. There's a spiffy new intro cinematic and I haven't noticed any missing voice acting like before, so that's good, otherwise it's exactly the same so far. They said they added a whole bunch more quests and fixed broken quests from before, but I won't know whether that's true until at least a few hours in. Here's hoping as before there were entire large areas with essentially nothing to do, like areas were made but they ran out of time to actually make things (quests, etc) to do in those areas. Hopefully those areas are now populated with people to talk to and quests to take.
As an aside, I hope they didn't fix females in the game peeing while standing up, that was hilarious, I'll miss it if it's gone.

If they did, maybe they will add it back in with some free She-Wee DLC?

So is it worth checking out? It still sounds like a bad game overall...

Well, the reviews certainly aren't as bad as last time.

Well, it's definitely not a great game. The on-foot combat is quite clunky, the character animations are stiff, much of the dialogue is of slash fiction level quality. On the plus side, the naval battles, while not as graceful as in AssCreed: Black Flag, are good of fun (especially once you get a better ship than the schooner you get at the beginning) and it's fun and refreshing, for me, at least, to play a pirate who's a straight up asshole, like a real pirate, not the romanticized Hollywood rough exterior but with a heart of gold bullcrap we usually get. Also, I'll give them points for some of the ambient sounds, particularly the bird sounds, they really make you feel like you're on a tropical island.
It's a very clunky game in many ways, but at least it's not horrifically broken this time, Not that I've seen so far anyway. It's not a game I could recommend to anyone with a clear conscience, but at the same time, I've played for over 12 hours since getting the game on Friday, I'm eager to play more, and I've been having a good time. There's fun to be had if you can get past how cheesy and clunky the game is in many respects.

Not a single bug of Raven's Cry was actually fixed in Vendetta. It's the same game, with the same bugs, with the same memory leak. Just a few logos were switched and that's it.
