I know it's an advert, but sometimes adverts really are quite nice. ZOTAC now seems to be stepping up their SteamOS Steam Machine hype with a trailer for their NEN unit.

It's really, really great to see some more advertising come out for Steam Machines. The only problem with this trailer, is that it shows a bunch of featured games at one point that aren't on SteamOS. That's actually a bit misleading even with the disclaimer (why show them at all!), but hey, the more advertising SteamOS gets the better it will be for us.
Pretty decent internals for this box too, quite surprising really for such a small unit.
You can see their full official page on it here. It also bugs me a bit that their SteamOS section side picture shows games that aren't on SteamOS. It also makes me laugh that it states "*internet connection may be required.", may be required? More like is required folks.

Wait a second. GTX 960 or GTX 960m? The difference between the two is day and night. Can anyone confirm it really is the desktop GPU inside that tiny box?
Could be a gtx 970m

Either way it will be awesome. I think this is going to be my next console.

The price is ridiculous but this kind of hardware I would buy without much hesitation... but at max $600.

I wonder what happened? o.O
Didn't see a single negative comment on it and almost no thumbs down.

I have a feeling they have something to hide untill closer to the release day 10th which suprisingly is fallout 4's release day. could be a coincidence but who knows maybe they are hiding it untill release to suprise everyone :D it sure would make my day!

To be fair, no one even knew about the previously announced launch titles. The whole process isn't even open to Linux users. Considering Alienware was boasting about 800 launch titles (then got postponed) coming to SteamOS before it even was a thing, clearly something is going on in the background we aren't being told about.
I know we're so use to being pessimistic about companies even giving a shit about Linux, but can we at least see what happens around the holidays (hell, or even a week or two after launch)?
My guess is Zotac had to pull it because someone noticed (probably Valve) that they were advertising games not compatible with it. Even if they make a foot note, it's still a pretty sloppy move.

The hardware is great, but price not so. As it was already mentioned it would make sense at around 600$ or 700$ for this particular hardware.
For me the point of steam machine is not in upgradabilty but rather in small size and low price compared to custom build pc. I mean i should be able to just replace the whole thing after it becomes outdated. Just like a gpu in custom pc but here whole machine.

@All of you complaining about the price: The hardware vendors producing Steam Machines obviously do not control the market and their only source for profit is the sale of hardware. This puts them on a totally different starting line from "traditional" console businesses. They just can't make up the difference with game sales. They also cannot depend on sales volumes, as they have competition on an unproven market. You'd see the same thing with Xbox and PS if Microsoft and Sony let others build and sell consoles according to their specs and only handled the software platform and game sales.
TL;DR: A tiny console-sized but powerful PC is and has always been expensive. It's cheaper to build a gaming rig yourself. Duh.

It's not gonna be a 960m, as that one doesn't appear to have HDMI2.0 support while Zotac claim their box does.

Also, this. I've been finding all the SteamMachines expensive, but I find little added value in the small form-factor or the fact that it's already put together.

Well like Keizgon said something is going on in the background thus is why they had to take off the video or maybe just hold it back. could be a suprise or could be some other things like false advertisement or something. who knows.. time will tell the truth anyways (10th november for that matter)

It even powers on via the controller (I'm sure someone around here was complaining that, that feature was missing from Steam Machines):
