Element has impressed me quite a lot, with some impressive visuals, quick games that you don't need hours for and it's really quite accessible. The developer sent over a key at my request, and I'm liking it a lot.
Note: The Linux version is deemed as "experimental", but it seemed to work fine on the highest settings for me.
It's early days for the game, as it has only just released and I managed to play a few quick games. It's like a really basic version of Planetary Annihilation, with battles taking place on one planet and much simpler graphics and gameplay too.
It has the usual stuff from a strategy game like needing resources, defences and stuff to attack with. The difference is you don't control anything built directly, apart from doing the building, launching repair drones or missiles directly from your main building. That doesn't make it boring though, you need to keep an eye on your energy to expand quickly, and watch the enemy advances on the map.
It's a little confusing trying to keep up with it right now, but that's mainly due to the maps being spherical worlds, and not flat. So you need to keep scrolling around to see the enemy buildings and missiles coming in.
It makes the Steam Controller feel very at home too, and that makes me even happier.
I can't wait to see how this game evolves.
