Well this was a surprise, the Humble NEOGEO 25th Anniversary Bundle has been released, and it features plenty of games nearly all of which are available on Linux. Right now Linux is leading the pack with the highest average payment too.

You can play several of the titles without even buying, or downloading in Chrome and Firefox, and I think that's pretty awesome by itself.

They seem to have a launcher, and a zip with the roms too in the one I tested, other reports seem to confirm it for the other games too.

Here's a little screenshot for you

What do I get?
Pay what you want for ART OF FIGHTING 2, FATAL FURY SPECIAL, KING OF THE MONSTERS, METAL SLUG 2, SAMURAI SHODOWN II, SENGOKU 3, THE KING OF FIGHTERS 2000, and BASEBALL STARS 2.

Pay more than the average price to also receive THE LAST BLADE, PULSTAR, METAL SLUG, METAL SLUG 3, SHOCK TROOPERS, NEO TURF MASTERS, THE KING OF FIGHTERS '98 ULTIMATE MATCH FINAL EDITION, TWINKLE STAR SPRITES, and the Neo Geo 25th Anniversary Soundtrack.

Pay $10 or more for all of that plus SHOCK TROOPERS: 2nd SQUAD, SAMURAI SHODOWN V Special, GAROU: MARK OF THE WOLVES, METAL SLUG X, and THE KING OF FIGHTERS 2002 UNLIMITED MATCH.

These are the titles that don't support Linux:
THE KING OF FIGHTERS 2002 UNLIMITED MATCH
THE KING OF FIGHTERS '98 ULTIMATE MATCH FINAL EDITION

Two titles isn't so bad, considering how many other games are available. Not a bad bundle at all! Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

You pay for the games, mostly.

Legal roms, SDL2 supported (in the one I tested), with a natively built emulator. Pretty damn good really.

I find the description confusing. Can someone confirm that it is possible to download the games? And, is it possible to play with a gamepad?

OMG! Neo Turf Masters is my favorite golf game ever.. I'm on it! w00t!

Great Bundle... However King of Fighters 2000 is running veeeery fast for me.
Allex Dec 8, 2015
Can you limit speed by some app ?
coolbober Dec 8, 2015
All games are too fast... unplayable with that speed.

Living under a rock? Anyway, even there you should have heard about "search engines" or "Google".

I wonder if the bundled emulator is the best option... You should probably try the ROMs from Humble Bundle + RetroArch (CRT shaders enabled!) combo. :)

I remember the 90s when a Neo Geo was extremely expensive,
especially the cartridges which featured extremely big memory for that time.

Far out of reach - for me. :)

That's a very nice bundle!

I didn't have any problems with the roms running too fast, actually I have tested SS2 GMotW and KoF2k and all played pretty well and responsive. I had issues with one rom glitching it's background for a split second but I would categorize it as minor since it was only once for a frame or two.

Thank God arcades existed back then.... Yeah there are still a few here and there but nothing like it was.

We're being beat by Mac atm. Quick! Someone throw a $100 in there. :P

Yeah, this totally threw me by surprise (Japan rarely gives us a nod). Though I'm starting to think this is connected to something bigger:

Metal Slug 2 is in that leak. Bet it's a hidden game in the HiB. Hopefully SNK will also release these Linux variations for Steam. You know, for our OS game count ego. 3D Realms, if you pay attention to steamdb, is obviously about to drop their entire DosBox collection (+25 games). The real question is, why are they stalling?

*looks at the shuffling behind the SteamOS curtain*

As an arcade fan, ROM Collector and royal fan of NEOGEO I had to support them even though I had all these arcade games.
Developers that are associated with my childhood and supporting Linux is a huge thumbs up and well supported by me :)

Capcom should follow Neogeo as well and support Linux/SteamOS :(

Possibly waiting until the bundle those are in expires.

Same here. It was said to have the quality of real video arcade(*) games - but it felt like it had the price of a complete video arcade(*) as well. :D

(*) Is there no expression like "arcade hall" or something in English to make clear it's an actual house?
