New: Turns out it was a mistake going by their twitter replies to people.

@julek42 Nope, just the Mac App Store. The Feral Radar had ideas beyond its station and is now being admonished and updated accordingly.

Original
I'm not entirely sure if this is an accidental slip, or if Feral Interactive are preparing to release Medieval II: Total War on Linux, but their radar updated today to say Medieval II: Total War is out on Mac and Linux, but it's currently not.

I sent word to Feral about this with no reply currently. We will update the article if Feral confirm it's an old bit left in, or if it's really one of their hidden games that's coming for Linux. It was launched on the Mac app store today, so who knows what's going on.

This is taken from their publicly available radar:

About the game (Official)
Take command of your army and expand your reign in Medieval II - the fourth installment of the award-winning Total War series of strategy games. Direct massive battles featuring up to 10,000 bloodthirsty troops on epic 3D battlefields, while presiding over some of the greatest Medieval nations of the Western and Middle Eastern world. Spanning the most turbulent era in Western history, your quest for territory and power takes you through Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, and even onto the shores of the New World.

You'll manage your empire with an iron fist, handling everything from building and improving cities to recruiting and training armies. Wield diplomacy to manipulate allies and enemies, outsmart the dreaded Inquisition, and influence the Pope. Lead the fight in the Crusades and bring victory to Islam or Christianity in the Holy War. Rewrite history and conquer the world. This is Total War! Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Accident or not, I don't think the release picture is produced months ahead. There can (have been) delays and they cannot be 100% sure to finish the job, so I think it will release very soon.

its accident/mistake .. im 99% sure of it

don't get your hopes up

i have some sources why i think its a mistake :D

Anyway the game is not available for Mac either (just checked today)

But this matches their tip about the three persons and the king, appeared recently.

Thus it is available on the Mac App Store (as stated on their twitter).

Too bad, they confirmed it was a mistake :

"Nope, just the Mac App Store. The Feral Radar had ideas beyond its station and is now being admonished and updated accordingly."

However it's likely to come to Linux...

However this looks interesting :
"We wanted to treat our loyal Mac App Store pals. :) Don't worry, we have something special lined up for Linux early next year..."

I hope it is not only buzz...

Updated, it was a mistake Feral's end going by their twitter.
adolson Dec 17, 2015
It's understandable that Mac gets better treatment than we do right now, but I really cannot wait for the day when we're equals.
burnall Dec 17, 2015
Well, mac had more games before Steam was even announced for Linux. Actually, if you want to play Dying Light on mac, you will be disappointed.
STiAT Dec 17, 2015
Sad it was a mistake - it's a nice RTS game.
med Dec 17, 2015
Well, it is a mistake in the sense that it is not available today on linux. However on Facebook they very much hinted that it was coming to linux too and that we just need to be a bit patient.

I really like Empire Total War, and is a pity that Medieval and Rome II don't come to Linux
Arehandoro Dec 17, 2015
I don't like to repeat myself, but would be great whether they port first shogun 2.
gbudny Dec 17, 2015
I think it won't happen, but It will be cool if Feral will port Max Payne to Linux because the Mac version is outdated. I have to use Mac OS X 10.6 from 2009 to run this game which is a painful practice because Apple abandoned this operating system.

And I would love they would port the first Rome. Still my favorite entry.
lucifertdark Dec 18, 2015
I have Empire & since yesterday Attila to keep me going till Medieval II & Rome II are ported, I still have a Windows partition if I want to play the others, not that it's going to happen any time soon of course, I've got so many Linux games to play now I just don't have time to mess about with Windows.

Looks like there's no planning for MTW 2 for Linux. From Twitter :
"We don't have any announcements regarding Medieval II for Linux, but we'll let you know if the tides change."

However they may fool us with their marketing as they already did, in the good way (good surprises) or in the bad way (Mordor marked "very soon" for 6 months...)
ellie_feral Dec 18, 2015
Sorry penguin friends, the Feral Radar glitch really was just a glitch. Medieval II is a special surprise for our loyal Mac App Store folk, but who knows... the future is a thing, and we know you lot would like this game. So we'll take your request on board and let you know if it happens. ^__^
etonbears Dec 18, 2015
This is probably NOT completely an accident. If you look at M2TW at https://steamdb.info you will see that it has configurations and depots for Windows Mac and Linux, and has done for a few weeks.

I expected it to be released at some point, but was not sure if the port was in-house or 3rd party. Looks like it is 3rd party like ETW. They are probably just not finished with the Linux version yet, but I think we will get it eventually

Its possible that CA have a long-term plan to port everything to SteamPlay, but don't necessarily want to promise anything, based on their experience with R2TW :)

Here's hoping. Empire:Total War is rock solid.

Didn't we already know this game was planned to be ported to Linux? I was living with the impression that we did... If it does not get ported, I will cry... alot...
