SteamDB is a bit like a drug for some of us waiting on games, and today my usual check-in resulted in finding PAYDAY 2 with some nice looking Linux additions.

According to their Steam page the Linux release is still planned for 2016. We will pick it up of course, so we can give you our thoughts on it.
The usual applies though, don't bloody buy it until the Linux version is released.

While in DC, why not participate in the local community, and run a few political errands?
Up to four friends co-operate on the hits, and as the crew progresses the jobs become bigger, better and more rewarding. Along with earning more money and becoming a legendary criminal comes a new character customization and crafting system that lets crews build and customize their own guns and gear. This is one title I should recommend everyone to stay away from.

You're fighting decades of habit that, at the end of the day, means very little and waging this war will get us virtually nowhere. We ought to pick our battles more wisely than arguing pathetically over terminology. Makes us look no better than a pack of whiny grammar nazis.

The problem with the terminology, apart from the fact that the current popular usage is plain wrong, is that it's not generally agreed upon. Like I said, some publishers literally mean Linux+Win+Mac when they say "coming for PC" whilst others mean various mixes of the three systems. So, if the term isn't used consistently, why not focus on using it to mean what it actually means?
Also, you say decades, but back in the mid nineties, PC game CDs used to be labelled for IBM PC and then either MS DOS or Windows, they didn't just write "PC". Even in 2000, games would still be labelled "Windows" on the cover, though that is also around the time the "PC CD/DVD" labelling started - likely to compete with the aggressive labelling on PlayStation discs. At that time, it did mostly make sense as Windows was basically the only PC OS with widely released commercial games, but that is no longer the case and to keep writing "PC" to mean Windows is now only confusing for the consumer.

It was all very well saying "PC" when Windows was the only OS available for PC, but we have multiple OS available to us now & Windows is only one of the many now, developers need to be clearer these days, if a game only runs in Windows they have to say exactly that or list the alternative OS that it runs in.
It's our job to call developers out when they say PC instead of which OS it supports instead.
