Holy cow! Capcom have announced Street Fighter V is coming to Linux & SteamOS which is a series I never thought we would see on Linux.

QuoteHey everyone. I’m excited to announce that Street Fighter V will be officially supporting Steam OS! We are working closely with Valve on this endeavor, and will have more details to announce in the near future, so stay tuned for updates.

Street Fighter V will also support the Steam controller, and you’ll be able to try that out right away during the upcoming beta test that takes place from December 18~20.

See you all online!

I'm pretty happy about this news, as I used to absolutely love these games when I was younger.

It's nice to know that Valve do seem to be having a hand at ports that come along, and I wonder who else is currently moving towards announcing a SteamOS release.

Never been much into the fighters... besides some old NES beat'em'ups and some older MK series. But I think I'll make an exception in this case - great stuff that moar big stuff is heading towards linux.

Im hoping that since the new Final Fantasy 7 remake is made on the Unreal Engine 4, that we might have a chance to get a port as well. It's asking alot, but i will keep hoping.

Finally, my main genre back on Linux. Thank you Unreal Engine 4. :D

Resident Evil would also be extremely welcome, who knows what the future holds. Having games like this will certainly make us look more interesting though.

Awesome! \o/

And native Steam Controller support?

Even more awesome! \o/

And glad to see Valve taking a part here. It proves their commitment to the platform, which is... what's the word? Oh yeah, awesome!

Quoting: gojulCurrently I prefer to wait'n'see... After all the port for Project CARS was announced a while ago, and we're still waiting for it. :'(
As far as I know, the Project Cars announcement was much more ambivalent than this announcement.

Wut? They're Making a new FF7 and they're also making it on UE4? Shiiii

If they remade 8 too I would trip balls. 8 is in my top 2 RPGs ever.

I swore they would never do a FF7 Remake as the story is too Anti-American about Terrorism and revolting against a corrupt government who is killing the planet just like I don't expect to see another Dune after 9/11 (A group of Sand people with middle-eastern names rise up against a corrupt and greedy government), Nope all we get in America anymore is this Hunger Games, American Propaganda 3 Part 1 of part 2 QQ :(

Also a big "watch" on my list. I remember good times playing Resident Evil on PlayStation 1, the mystery and tension were really well woven into that game.

It would be crazy to see remakes of old games like Parasite Eve, I think we're ballin pretty good already though as a Console :)

Yoou guys nailed it:
This is the first of many games that will be available to us cause UE4 engine!

Let's see if the "making the cost of making a linux client irrelevant" will became truth.

I'll totally by a SF5 copy! And give ppl ranks cause I suck balls.

8 was also my favorite I still have the 4 disk set (and play it once in a while on an emulator). Of course now thanks to internet theories I can't help but think Squall dies at the end of disk one. You're the first person I randomly came across that likes 8 as much as I do.

Now this is a pleasent surprise. One of the few fighter series I enjoy.

I've never really gotten into fighters since SF2 on the Amiga. I do recognize how big of a brand this is though. So woo I guess.

What I really wanna see from Capcom is some Ace Attorney goodness. Fat chance, I know. :'(

That would be astonishing! And I could then buy Smach Z and not the next handheld from Nintendo hahaha.
