XCOM is not only one of my favourite Feral ports on Linux, but it's also one of my most played and favourite games ever. XCOM 2 now has a brand new trailer, and wow, I'm excited.

They have also announced a Digital Deluxe Edition along with this new trailer.

I'm not entirely sure on when it will launch on Linux, as the press release was a little vague:
QuoteNew York, NY – December 10, 2015 – 2K and Firaxis Games today announced that the XCOM® 2 Digital Deluxe Edition is now available for pre-purchase for $74.99. Launching globally on February 5, 2016 for Windows PC and coming to Mac and Linux via Feral Interactive, the XCOM 2 Digital Deluxe Edition includes the sequel to the Game of the Year* award-winning strategy title XCOM: Enemy Unknown, the XCOM 2 Reinforcement Pack** and the digital soundtrack. XCOM 2 takes place 20 years into the future, where humanity has surrendered to the alien threat and XCOM is largely forgotten, forcing them to reclaim Earth and free mankind from the aliens’ rule.

I'm hoping for a day one release, and I hope their wording is to cover themselves if there's a delay, but we will have to wait and see. Their wording makes it sounds like it won't be a day one release, to me anyway.

About XCOM 2
XCOM 2 is the sequel to the Game of the Year award-winning strategy title XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Developed by the strategy experts at Firaxis Games, XCOM 2 transports players 20 years into the future, where humanity lost the war against the alien threat that has established a new world order. The secret paramilitary organization known as XCOM is largely forgotten, and must strike back to reclaim Earth and free mankind from the aliens’ rule. Forced to operate on the run in their new mobile headquarters, players must use a combination of firepower and covert tactics to help XCOM recruit soldiers and build a resistance network, all while attempting to expose the evil alien agenda and save humanity. Still can't get enough of those snakemen.

Sorely tempted to preorder this. Might have to check whether Feral are taking preorders directly, since I don't trust Steam to count me as a Linux sale.

Still trying to find the time to finish Enemy Unknown, then on to Enemy Within. So good.

I still haven't got past the first mission on Enemy Unknown, I just never have the time to sit down & really get to grips with it & now they've got a second on the way.

Oh Steam please just auto-transact all of Ferals Linux-releases to my account. Just grab the money and ship'em over.

But I seriously doubt it will be a day one release. I assume Feral receive the source code of the released version, and seeing how most games are patched even on release day I guess that means they can't receive the source long before the official release, maybe even right after.

I like the game very much, played through it on Windows, and when it got ported to Linux I bought Enemy Within and played through in permadeath mode. But when you say you cannot get a grip on it - maybe it's just not your cup of tea?

No it's not that, there's just not enough hours in my days to really give this game the time it needs for me to get anything out of it, I love the older games in the series & played them to death when they first came out .

Ah, ok... I guess I cannot bolster you up here - it will take much time to play through it. Though it's totally worth it.

Well, it's confusing, as it already has a SteamOS icon and it's already listing Feral Interactive as a developer and publisher.

The game looks great. That said, I'll be waiting a year and buying the Complete Edition for 50% off. I'm completely fed up with with pre-order bonuses and deluxe editions. This one in particular doesn't seem nearly as egregious as others I've seen, but it's still bullshit. It used to be you paid $50 or $60 and got a COMPLETE game. Now you need to spend $75, $90, $100, or even more to get the whole package and the publishers are trying to push microtransactions into the games on top of that. The vast majority of them are doing it now, too, which means I'll be buying very few if any AAA games at release, I'm fucking done with this shit. You'll get 1/3 to 1/4 of the money from me a year later, you greedy assholes.

This isn't directed at Feral, though, props to them for getting this out for Linux gamers day 1, we need more AAA games day 1. My beef is with 2K, as well as all the other big publishers, I guess.
