Exciting news for FPS fans. The Arma 3 developers have updated everyone on what's happening with the Linux port, and it looks like they are even going to work on the BattlEye anti-cheat system.

This is important because it means we would be able to play with everyone else, as we are limited to servers that don't use BattlEye.

QuoteOur partners at Virtual Programming have been working hard on updating the client port betas to 1.54. We're testing these updates in-house right now. There are a few issues that need to be solved before we can release them to you as well. Meanwhile we're discussing with VP and BattlEye whether it might be possible to support the anti-cheat service on the port platforms in the future. We'll keep you updated!

This is great news, as I was impressed by the performance of the port and was really hoping they would do this!

For those who missed it, there is a Linux version of Arma 3 on Steam even though there's no SteamOS/Linux icon. They didn't know if they would be updating the port test to a newer version, but they now are which is great news.

I still wouldn't suggest buying it until this big update is released, and think carefully if BattlEye doesn't get supported, as it's not a cheap game.

Why has everyone gone off TS, I quite like it, Easy to use, works well. server setup is simple and works across all PC platforms! I don't get the problem with it.

Planetside's 2 voip is somewhat of an overlooked gem to me. Been able to shout to people near for ammo/health and what not is/was damn handy. As well as squad/platoon chat.

Quoting: scainewhy do you say that TeamSpeak need to fix this, if it's TFAR/ACRE2 that are using DLL plugins?
IIRC TS only supports plugins as .dlls and this excludes them for use in Linux. Correct me, if I am wrong. Would love to be wrong on this point ;-)

....

Yes you are wrong.
The plugins in my TS3 plugins folder are .so files.

I have the same question. I mean, I understand Mumble because it's for real free and open source and exists in Linux server repositories. But I still stick to TS3 for the intuitive client. I don't pay for a hosted server because I host it myself. Doesn't every clan have an IT person to host?
