Aspyr Media have announced they are now publishing the psychedelic horror game Layers of Fear. The game is currently in Early Access, and due out next month.

You can see the Aspyr Media article on it here.

Hopefully with Aspyr Media helping them out the game will see a really polished experience for Linux when it hits the full release next month. It has been on my list to check out for a while, but I just haven't had the time to sink into it. Considering how close it is to the final release, we will give it a proper look next month. Apparently the full release will be bigger than what we see in Early Access right now, so that has me excited.

About the game
Layers of Fear is a psychedelic horror that will keep you on-edge for the reminder of the game. Delve deep into the mind of an insane painter and discover the secret of his madness, as you walk through a constantly shifting house.

Heavily inspired by the masterpiece paintings from the past centuries, and the architecture and décor from the XIX century. Layers of Fear is a truly unique experience, where each move of the camera can change your surroundings.

Layer by layer uncover the visions, fears and horrors that entwine the protagonist and finish the masterpiece he has strived so long to create.

You can grab it from Steam right now if you can't wait:

Aspyr has been quiet lately, compared to Virtual Programing and Feral. Let's hope they launch some games this year.

Yup. Bought the game only to support them (not interested actually in it)

Aspyr has been busy, just not really in the Linux world... Homeworld, The Sims stuff... There was also the CivBE expansion, which was on Linux. But yeah, compared to Feral, the Linux releases have been slow.

Yeah, it's been a while...
I think that's why Feral won so ahead of Aspyr the Goty award, Aspyr got out of the spotlight and people forgot about them.

There exist no words in any known language that clearly enough express how I am so totally not going to play that game.

.. I'll still buy it, though.

Layers of Fear is being published by Aspyr and it's coming to GOG? Outstanding! Perhaps we'll see Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords for Linux come to GOG as well now.
