Feral Interactive will be teasing the Linux port of XCOM 2 this Thursday at 6PM GMT, so we can see how it's doing.
I am excited, but it's one of the times that timezones fail for me, as we are on the same timezone it's just that little bit too early for me to be able to watch. Hopefully I can catch highlights afterwards if they have set up their twitch to allow you to watch previous broadcasts.
I am planning to livestream XCOM 2 on release day anyway, so I won't be too sad if I don't get a chance to watch Feral fail at it as I won't be spoiled then anyway.

QuoteThis Thursday the 28th of January at 6PM GMT, troops from our dev and QA barracks will livestream a spoiler-free hour of XCOM 2 on Linux. We’ll provide video commentary as we go, so beware of bickering, joshing, and highly articulate spluttering.
Use #FeralPlays on Twitter to prep us with questions to answer during the livestream, then take aim at our Twitch channel or the video below to watch us dive head-on into a terrifying new cast of enemies.
XCOM 2 is developed by Firaxis Games and will be brought to Mac and Linux by Feral Interactive.

They confirmed to me it will be available on twitch after the livestream, so anyone who misses it will be able to watch which is good news.

Just started playing XCOM a few days ago because of the current Humble Bundle. I kinda like it! I didn't know that turn-based strategy can be that fun! I'm excited to see XCOM 2.

AFAIK XCOM 2 will be release simultaneously for linux & windows, so does anyone know if the linux version would be a compiled wrapper port like other feral titles or the engine will have native linux support?

Quoting: babai(...)does anyone know if the linux version would be a compiled wrapper port like other feral titles(...)You need to distinguish Feral Interactive and Virtual Programming. VP does ports with their EON wrapper, Feral does real porting to native Linux function calls. So we will receive first day one native port done by 3rd party. And we're all excited :).

Feral ports are still D3D to OGL convertions which is why performance penalty is there with feral games. I want to know if the XCOM2 engine is built to support OGL natively from the get go or not.

XCOM 2 engine is Unreal Engine 3. As far as I know it has native Linux support.
