I have been hoping to see something like this. Open Game Benchmarks is a brand new website dedicated to showing off benchmarks from Linux games.

Previously we've only really had Phoronix (and people know how I feel about the quality on Phoronix in recent times), so it's good to see some healthy competition in the Linux benchmarking area. While we do benchmarks, it's generally only on big new titles as we focus more on the Sales Page, the Calendar and general day to day Linux gaming news.

I was actually going to be adding something exactly like Open Game Benchmarks to GOL, but now I don't see a need which is great. I am going to try and team up with them to feature benchmarks here on GOL too.

It currently only supports games from Steam for Linux, as they claim that gives them a big enough selection and all high profile Linux games will be on it. It's hard to argue with that really, but I still hope they open up a bit in future if it's not too much trouble.

They also plan to open source it once they have cleaned it up enough, so that's even better news. I would hate for it to die off, and if it ever does we could always host it.

It has a nice simple layout, everything looks clean and to the point, it even has simple and nice looking graphs on each game. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I believe having Early Access games there would be good.
It does, however, seem like the early access game "Distance" already is available on opengamebenchmarks...

You're forgetting that this site isn't and has no pretensions to being "professional". It's more or less a personal blog with a few contributing editors and a forum. And that's a fact many of us appreciate.

Sure, GOL is gathering quite a following, but that's no reason to suddenly start emulating a commercial "news" portal / hype pusher / advertisement outlet / clickbait hell. We've got enough of those, and I for one have no time or patience for them.

If this site does not aim to be more professional, I have no problems with the statements made.
Why I commented here and in the other thread was because, the Author was criticizing other sites for not being professional enough. So I thought it might be wise if everyone would put his own house in order first.
Of course we all have the right for our own opinion, but if you spread it in the internet there will alway be some "pedantic" guy with a different opinion - or someone who thinks that he knows how something could be written better - like me ;)
My intention here is just to keep the peace within the young linux gaming community :D

No, he was accusing them of bad journalism and lack of fact-checking, at which point people started calling him unethical and unprofessional.

But let's not derail the comment thread any further or it'll be closed as well.

I would highly appreciate if there more people would try intel benchmarks. This is especially interesting for the loads of indie games which form the base of linux games. I have a laptop here with Intel HD Graphics 4400, and sadly found that many of 2d indie games are not playable (extrem low fps), propably due to bad port. Imho these graphics should be able to handle those games easily, atleast at lower settings. Examples are Trine1 and Apotheon. Funny: Metro Last Light worked well enough.

Maybe for GOL: I would highly appreciate if Intel runtests could be made with tested games. No deep testing, just try if it runs. I e.g. bought Victor Vran and was not able to play it due to missing opengl support (officially all intel graphics since 4000 support 3.3).

I couldn't have put it better myself.

Bingo. Never even once mentioned professionalism from the other sites (to which they really aren't, come on Phoronix repeatedly calls open-source projects "shit" because of their graphics).

Don't make me lock this one as well, articles are not the place to repeatedly discuss the same thing spread over multiple articles because I locked one, again, we have a forum if you take issue with the way I do things.

Afraid I don't have anything with an intel GPU.

I apologize. I did not know about the existense of a forum or that it is the right place for my junk.
And I apologize again. I misinterpreted "bad journalism" as "be more professional".
