Pharaonic is an unforgiving sidescrolling Action-RPG by the developers who gave us Ziggurat, and it looks good.

Samsai tried it out on the weekly livestream just now, and he said "it's brutal" and he seemed to be quite interested in it. I have to say even I thought the game looked quite interesting. The visuals seem nice, and the combat looks like it could be challenging and fun, and it works fine on Samsai's AMD GPU with open source drivers.

About the game
Pharaonic is an unforgiving sidescrolling Action-RPG set in Ancient Egypt. Explore a vast kingdom full of dangers and brutal enemies while you find the truth behind Ahmosis I, the Red Pharaoh.

Death awaits at every corner in Egypt, and only the most audacious warriors will have any chance of success. The Pharaoh's army and countless dangerous creatures will stand in your way.

Polish your combat skills to the finest and loot the best gear possible to even have the slightest chance of overcoming this difficult endeavor. Will you opt for lightweight equipment, trusting on your agility to avoid death? Or will you prefer to take the blow and strike back even harder? The decision is entirely yours to make.

What?

Many of AAA games are shite these days, esp. on launch, just like indies, the difference is you need to sell your arm and a half to play them.

Indies brought gaming to linux, your arrogance is not appreciated.

Looks interesting. Hopefully they bring out a DRM free version after it's launched.

Is it just me or is the hero getting beaten up a lot in the trailer?

Did he beat a single enemy?

:D

Bought it yesterday and it had heavy graphical glitches. I'll try it again today with up to date drivers, maybe that was the reason.

Apart from the graphic problems the game is awesome. Only thing I don't like is that you keep your progress after dying :/
Had hoped for a more Dark Souls like approach where you lose your progress when you die.

Hello coeseta, if you are experiencing graphical glitches in the form of weird flickering, we're aware of the issue and have contacted Unity about it, as we have reproduced the problem even on a very simple project. We're waiting for a patch or workaround and we'll update the build as soon as we can.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I read about the Unity problem afterwards on the steam forum. It is not a big deal since it is still an EA game. As long as it will be fixed in the final version or maybe even before that.

Apart from that it is a really nice game and runs at constant 60fps with vsync and @ ~110fps without vsync :)
