For those not keeping an eye on the latest SteamOS updates, a new beta was pushed out a few days ago! It's good to see Valve keeping up with new hardware support.
Changes highlights
This latest beta now has support for the Xbox One Elite gamepad controller when plugged in with a wire.
They have also enabled the bluetooth module in pulseaudio by default. This will hopefully allow bluetooth headsets to work with less configuration hassle.
Nothing major, but the two features highlighted above should make it overall a bit nicer for people with such hardware.

They enabling support in the OS will not guarantee that the games will work with it. Unigine games and Aspyr ports do not work with the Xbox One controller.

I don't have an eye on this, so I appreciate articles pointing out such changes. I find officially released updates more interesting than betas, though.

Cool. Personally, the X1 controller feels cheaper than X360 - the giant letters on the buttons that fade off with use feels cheap to me.
I think the general public will be surprised and like this very much though since 4 X1 controllers run you at least $200 and not all prefer the current Steam Controller current version.

Personally, I'm loving my Steam Controller. I use it on everything I can now. Though I did find a nice bug in Mad Max (yeah I know, evil me playing on Windows) where it will randomly tell you to push mouse buttons or keyboard equivalents (like pressing E on the keyboard instead of A on the controller). I'm not sure if that's because of the gamepad/mouse combination the steam controller's profile is using, or what the deal is.
