Cities: Skylines looks like it's getting some really great support, and with a free update coming soon we will get access to a new Theme Editor.
You can see them show it off here:
I really love this idea, you could be creating a city on an Alien looking world in no time.
Also, here's some gameplay of the Snowfall expansion:

Cities Skylines is great, however on my rig when I have +8 areas unlocked, fps goes around 15 and it starts to be not very good experience.
Also my 3rd city started to loose population because of wrong road design and I started to loose money really quickly so I stopped playing it some time ago. With recent updates and upcoming Snowfall DLC I guess time to build new city has come.

Same. I gave up on my city months ago when I encountered an unfixable garbage situation. Maybe I'll give it another shot but with much better preplanning this time.

I gave up on the game too... In my case because it's a real memory hog and quickly fills my measly 8GB of RAM, even with no mods subscribed/installed. :-(

Love the game, but performance has be always crappy for me, as soon as the city becomes large. I don't think that the devs are going to try and improve it on Linux; I blame it on Unity engine! That said, with new content I might pick it up again

Works great on i7 6xxx GTX 970 even with several hundred workshop items & mods installed.
Super awesome game. Workshop content is out of this world

How much RAM do you have? And how much does the game use on your machine?

Like other comments, still also waiting on that OpenGL performance patch or upgrade to Vulkan before I donate to those devs. Points for getting it on Linux, but I refuse to support shoddy OpenGL development and shoddy Linux releases in general.
Unfortunately, I think you might be waiting indefinitely if performance improvements depend on the Unity3d Engine developers improving their engine.
