Co-hosts needed for the GOL podcast!

By darkone778 -
Hello to all GOL gamers!

So let me quickly introduce myself, my name is Matthew Cross. I have been a long time Linux user, since the Mandrake days, but I have been a PC gamer for even longer. So anyways, onto the point of this post. With all the new games, and gaming happening in the world of *nix, and GOL being the place for Linux gaming news. It seems only appropriate that GoL has all the content to go with a major gaming news website.

The Boss and others, do a great job currently provides us with news, livestreams, and much more content. So I wanted to give back for their awesome work, by offering to do the GOL podcast!

So what I am currently looking for as far as format, and what is needed? The biggest thing right now that is needed are co-hosts for the show. I am currently look for 2 co-hosts to join me on the show. How often will we have show? The show will be recorded once a week with a show length running between 1 to 1.5 hours. Also, any co-host must be comfortable being on mic and/or camera. The finer details of the show format will be worked out be the co-hosts and myself. We will of course, be taking feedback and suggestions from the community for ideas and show topics

To give a quick synopsis of the show discuss news of the week, have developer interviews, and topics of discussion for the week as it relates to Linux gaming. So comment below if you are interested in co-hosting the show, and we will set up a time to talk. Game on! Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I wouldn't mind using a mic, but camera...?

I could join only on weekends. I have been thinking about GOL podcast too, but finally someone realizes it :)
I might consider it since I am also gamer since ~2004(?), and recent Linux user (since 2014)

Anyway, good luck with that ;)

The camera part is more about if we decide to livestream the show.

This could be a pretty cool idea. I'd be interested in trying this out as well - got mic, got camera, got interest in it.
Gamer since the Pentium 166Mhz days and a linux user since, idk, 2011(?). :P

While I don't have a camera, I'd definitely be up for giving it a go. I've got a decent mic, a Blue Snowball. I am a relatively new PC gamer, and an even newer Linux one. Been using Linux exclusively for about two years now, but have had a Windows computer for games for about five years before that.

It could be fun, I'd gladly give it a shot :)
I've been using GNU/Linux since ~2008, and gaming since almost as far as I can remember

Id be intrested in doing a podcast, I would rather not do camera though, the only podcasting Ive ever done is been a guest in the podcast Chuckle bits podcast, but I was nervious and a bit awkward in that podcast, if I had a littlw while to get used to it Im sure I could do well.

I listen to a good lot of podcasts, linux wise its LAS, Linux unplugged, linux voice, linux luddites, Bad voltage etc

Gaming I listen to oh no video games, year of steam, and the podqusition,I also used to listen to chuckle bits podcast but thar was a lot less about games and is discontinued now.

I'd be happy to co-host a GOL show or two if that's of interest :)

I've been co-hosting SteamLUG Cast on and off for a couple of years now, and we found that having a pool of hosts that can cycle in and out helps make sure that there are people to fill in when availability changes (we do aim for 3 hosts per show though). Switching hosts around can help keep things feeling fresh too.

If there's any other experience or advice you'd be keen to grab, I'm happy to answer questions.

I think requiring a camera will put a certain amount of people off, so we probably should leave that out.

Having Cheese on board to help out (even if it's just at the start) would probably help things along a good bit.

Camera not so much a requirement as a nice to have incase we ever decide to do a livestream of the show with some audience participation etc. But definitely not a requirement. And cheese would love to have you on! I've been doing podcasting on and off myself as well for the last 5 years or so.

I look forward to hearing a GoL podcast! I hope whoever ends up in it is both knowledgeable and mature - the exact opposite of the only Linux gaming cast that everyone seems to know about.

Also, Matthew... Your name sounds familiar, but I can't place it... Were you around on MUB back in the day? Did you ever visit The Mandrake eXPerience?
