Co-hosts needed for the GOL podcast!

By darkone778 -
Hello to all GOL gamers!

So let me quickly introduce myself, my name is Matthew Cross. I have been a long time Linux user, since the Mandrake days, but I have been a PC gamer for even longer. So anyways, onto the point of this post. With all the new games, and gaming happening in the world of *nix, and GOL being the place for Linux gaming news. It seems only appropriate that GoL has all the content to go with a major gaming news website.

The Boss and others, do a great job currently provides us with news, livestreams, and much more content. So I wanted to give back for their awesome work, by offering to do the GOL podcast!

So what I am currently looking for as far as format, and what is needed? The biggest thing right now that is needed are co-hosts for the show. I am currently look for 2 co-hosts to join me on the show. How often will we have show? The show will be recorded once a week with a show length running between 1 to 1.5 hours. Also, any co-host must be comfortable being on mic and/or camera. The finer details of the show format will be worked out be the co-hosts and myself. We will of course, be taking feedback and suggestions from the community for ideas and show topics

To give a quick synopsis of the show discuss news of the week, have developer interviews, and topics of discussion for the week as it relates to Linux gaming. So comment below if you are interested in co-hosting the show, and we will set up a time to talk. Game on! Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I'd be up for it with episodes relating to the kinds of games I like (strategy, point-and-click, simulation and story-rich games). Essentially though anything FPS or sports-related though I'm just going to end up tearing a new one, which could be comical but will probably just cause controversy.

OK with being on mic, but I'd feel a bit weird about the camera.

Quoting: BeamboomI'd really love to join such an initiative, I even got many years worth of broadcast experience, but English is not my native language so that'd be too much of a hindrance. :(

I think it would actually be interesting to have people from different countries and backgrounds; this site has an international community, why not represent that. Unless of course you feel you'd have trouble following a conversation in English at all.
But I'm biased of course since I'm not a native speaker either. :)

I'd be very interested in joining in - I have been using linux since 2003 (various distros, but mostly openSUSE, Mandriva and Debian) , and am becoming more of a serious gamer since steam for linux came out! Before this, I used to be mainly a console gamer, with my favourite genres being action RPG, RTS, management and FPS games.
I am also a professional c++ developer (not in gaming, but scientific programming), and am very happy to be on mic and camera. I am in the UK, though, so don't know if timezones might be a problem!

Call me if you need a devil's advocate (primarily Windows user).

Part of me wants to say I'm interested, the rest of me wants to say I'm not interesting :P

But if you're recording on a weekend and you really need someone, sure. Weekdays are iffier.

Again, The camera is not a requirement just a nice to have should we ever decide to livestream the show when we record, for things like audience participation etc. I would love to have you on I always love hearing about genres people either do or do not like etc. I find differences in gaming taste makes people look at games they normally may not have.

As far as the international representation. I am all for the idea! English speaking is a necessity, as well we all need to be able to understand what the others are saying.

Quoting: dklumpI'm interested in this. I've kinda been looking to get into some streaming anyway. Is there going to be an application process?
Is there going to be an application process? No, there is no application process per say, just as long as you are passionate about games. However, being an active Linux user also helps! Will there be some type of vetting process?Yes, there will be. As obviously, we need two co-hosts and we will need one or two people that we can sub in as necessary. A lot of factors will come into play when making those choices.

I would suggest you do a competition, as there is much interest.
All participants should submit a minute or so of a game review of their choice (on Linux ofc).

Screw the rest of these jokers, I'm the one you want. Other than money, fame, girls, looks, fitness and talent, I'm the spitin' image of Tom Cruise. All of the crazy, none of the "makes him 'eccentric' qualities" to temper it.

I could be interested in this thingie. There is a risk that I might occasionally be an asshat but that's negotiable.

I would be interested in trying out for this. I do a little of that YouTubing ;) as a hobby. Usually I am not fully on camera if I am at all. It really depends on the content. Though I have been on camera a few times so I am not scared of my face being seen. I also have a decent condenser microphone so I should be rather clear when speaking.
