Well, looks like Techland are at least paying some sort of attention to their Linux port, not much mind. They just released a hotfix to Dying Light that should fix up the low resolution texture issue. I did a quick test, and it does indeed look like it's fixed (for me at least). See the update at the bottom too.

This makes the single player properly playable again, now I just need to keep at them to fix up the co-op connection issues. I tried co-op with some people in our IRC the other night, with 100% failure trying to connect to each other in different trials. We also tested connecting to other public games with 100% failure. Techland have my logs (many logs) like they did with the texture issues, they just need to get going.

QuotePatch (hotfix) 1.10.1 release notes:

* Disabled VAC when playing coop on LAN
* Fixed rare issue with infinite loading or crash when starting the game

Linux specific:

* Fixed textures streaming issue

Source

Update
Sadly, their support team don't really listen to anything I say to them, after sending multiple logs from their game including a "hardinfo" readout of my entire system (at their request) this was their reply about the co-op issues on Linux:
QuoteMake sure your OpenGL version is 4.4 or higher, please. Also, the issue may be caused by having installed the game on an XFS partition. If that is the case, please consider changing it to EXT4 to play Dying Light.

In other words "we didn't read anything you sent us, not even the issue you're having". I also have a Nvidia 980ti and I'm not sure what OpenGL versions have to do with broken co-op play, and I'm on ext4, so neither is actually an issue. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Steam doesn't detects any error;
Reinstallation doesn't solve the problem;

In this case, problem is in driver side - I think. This drivers is know as buggy in many Linux games. So try install one of older driver.

352.79 same error, the devs last update killed the game, devs incompetence.

I had almost the same problem, after the enhanced patch, the game suddenly crashed after the loading screen.
I tried with different graphic drivers, but finally I discover it wasn't a driver problem, it was an incompatibility between the SDL2 libraries provided by the game/Steam (I'm not sure right now) and the libasound2 library on my system.
I know, it sounds stupid, but I downgraded libasound2 and the game magically works again (Nvidia 361.28, 352.79 and 355.11) :D

And Yes, It's a mess because this is the only game on my library affected by this strange ¿"bug"?

I can't even test this since the Steam Client Beta update from a few days ago broke the controller for me in Dying Light so I literally can't play this game right now (I don't want to play it with m&kb or dig out my 360 controller). Weirdly, it seems Dying Light is the only game the Steam update broke, controller config works in other games but won't work in Dying Light. I saw the a filed for this with my exact symptoms and it happened before the Dying Light update to fix textures, so I'm assuming it was the Steam update and not the game update that broke the controller. I was out of town so I haven't gotten to try playing since both updates until just now.

:(

Edit: I opted out of the Steam Client Beat and magically my controller works with the game again, so clearly that was the issue. As with some others, I didn't have any texture problems before, but I do now (it doesn't happen a lot, but it happens more than it did before, which was not at all). Thanks Techland. :><:

Looks like your low-res texture bug is nothing compared to the low-res textures I had before the patch. Also I can't see anything wrong in your first screen...

Being out for the weekend, I didn't have the chance to try the patch out, will give some feedback as soon as I get home...

The grass. Some of the grass (the tall grass) is shockingly low res compared to the rest of the foliage. Is it supposed to look like that? I don't remember it looking like that, granted I'm not usually staring at it when ripping through a field at 60 mph.

Ok now I see. Well it definitely looks wrong but it is not the same bug we're dealing with. You must look for 3Dfx-era low-res textures that spread for several square metres and will remind you of the first Unreal on a real low-end rig.
[Edit] The fix corrects the bug in my case. I still stumbled upon some low quality textures, but it seems once the cache is populated, the problem is gone.
Also, for those having performance issue, it seems that the update re-enables VSync by default. Once it's disabled again, it runs like a charm, really. I play this on a GTX 660.

I've been unable to join any games, but I have had Hunters join my games. The players who have joined were running Windows while I was on Gentoo.
