I do hope Godot becomes popular, as it looks like it has some really great features and it's fully open source!

QuoteUsability still remained a pressing issue, so we made a long list of tasks to improve upon for 2.0. We worked hard and after about 8 months we now finally have a stable Godot ready for you!

This release is special because our team has grown a lot. We have more regular contributors, a documentation team, a bug triage team and a much larger community! Godot keeps growing and becoming more and more awesome.

I had just checked the site thinking about giving game development another crack; what fortuitous timing! :D

Same here, I saw this on LAS subredit and took a look around, now I am on a different kinda project, a vagrant manager called vman :) I use vagrant because I mainly work as webdev and I miss this kind of an app. It is simple and it is not finished but I think I will finish it this week :)

but I will dive into this, I have some Ideas xD and if I actually finish something, it is ubuntu first, than later windows and mac xD

does this engine support 3D ? or a better question what is required to get this engine to use some basic 3D graphics ( not unity standard but good enough for an indie FPS )

Yes it does 3d, just search about the engine on YT and you have very useful info there :)

If the Adventures of Dog Mendonca & PizzaBoy has been developed with Godot I can only say; I will give another go to learn a bit of game designing.

Speaking of which, I can't wait until that game comes out. It looks like it will be a really fun point & click.

They also have completely revamped the website, and it's WAY better than the last few iterations. Searchable documentation which can easily be contributed to via Github now, too.

One of the best features, IMO, is the improved gamepad support. It actually supports the SDL2 environment variable mapping now, despite the engine not actually using SDL2. This means virtually all gamepads are properly supported now, and it has a built-in database too (just like SDL2 does).

Meh. I bet it's really slow. You'll be waiting forever for stuff to render. (rimshot)

By the way, it's available for free (obviously) on Steam, like Blender is.
