Shadowrun: Hong Kong gets free Extended Edition update

By -
The latest in the line of cyberpunk RPGs by Harebrained Schemes gets a really beefy update available to all players for free that includes a new six-hour campaign and in-game developer commentary.

I've really enjoyed the three Shadowrun games by Harebrained Schemes – so much so that I backed Hong Kong on kickstarter as soon as it was announced. As a developer, they've been great at providing day-1 Linux support and generally rewarding their fans with free content and updates. I know that vague-sounding extended and enhanced editions are all the rage in the game marketing world right now but I suppose that a new post-main-game campaign justifies the rebranding.

Here's what you can expect from the new campaign:
Official AboutSet in the weeks following the events of the main campaign, the Shadows of Hong Kong bonus campaign will give you -- and your team -- the opportunity to turn the tables on the elite corporate police force that once hunted you. Through layers of corporate greed and urban strife, you will contend with dangerous enemies, uncover a deadly conspiracy, and cement your reputation as a Prime Runner… assuming that you survive, of course.

This seems like a good as an excuse as any to get back into the game and put a little cherry on top of the main story line.

You can by Shadowrun Hong Kong Extended Edition via Steam or DRM-free on GOG. It's currently half off on both stores. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

History, sci-fi, technology, cooking, writing and playing games are things I enjoy very much. I'm always keen to try different genres of games and discover all the gems out there.

Oh and the name doesn't mean anything but coincidentally could be pronounced as "Buttery" which suits me just fine.

I will definitely be buying this before I buy XCOM2. Something about price tag . . .
Harebrained Schemes rock, I've really had fun with the previous two games, they work great on Linux and it's great to see this kind of stand-up support for their games.

I hope their next game will have 64-bit binaries (~__~)

Actually, I find 'extended edition' quite descriptive: extra gaming content. The 'extended edition deluxe' had me scratching my head for a while.

Nice to see that a studio cares about the product and customers enough to release an update like that for free. HBS is turning into one of my favourite studios.

Ah yes, that is very nice to read, another piece of the story on top of the main campaign (which was awesome on its own). HBS is still rocking it, will definitely check their next project.
