Shadwen looks like it might turn a few heads at release, and it certainly seems like it could be interesting to me. There is now a demo available to try out.
It's a little on the rough side right now, but it's showing real promise.
About the game
Shadwen is a stealth-action game where the only rule is to remain unseen. Stay hidden - or the ruthless guards will kill you on sight!
Shadwen, an assassin on a quest to kill the king, has a chance encounter with an orphaned girl, Lily. She follows Shadwen on her dangerous journey, but when the ruthless guards get too close, Shadwen must take action right in front of Lily's eyes.
Will Shadwen risk the girl's budding trust by resorting to violence, or try and find another way while keeping her real purpose concealed?
To kill or not to kill - that is the question.
You can get the demo on GOG and Steam.

At first I thought there was a bug in the game making it freeze whenever the character wasn't moving. Now I see it's a "stop time" feature. This game will probably drive me crazy, but I'd buy it anyway. According to PC Gamer, the more we play the demo, the lower the price goes.

Free demo? This is a nice welcome surprise. I'll give it a go this weekend.

Does the tutorial video work for anyone? I just get a bright pink screen. The voice over plays, and keeps talking even after exiting the tutorial.

I get the same bug. Reported it here: http://frozenbyte.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=27505
Please add your specs to narrow it down or to confirm that it's generic.
The game itself sounds promising, and it's great indeed that they released the demo. It's a good old practice that more developers should follow.
Also, it still doesn't follow XDG base directories spec: http://frozenbyte.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=27504

This demo is pretty cool and probably will get the full game after playing it. Yet I would like some changes in the full game.
I wish the demo didn't hide the information away in a video and was just presented to you on a need to know basis. Specially when you are just thrown right into the game. When I am thrown into the action I tend to go with the flow to be sucked in. It took me a while before I decided to look for a tutorial. I literally went through the first half of the game just grappling around and dropping down for backstabs. Until I found out I couldn't stab some guards in the back. Items were the last thing on my mind too. As I figured out I had items way to late into the game.
Also, it would be pretty cool to be able to switch to the little girl to move her. At least let me tell her to move because I killed a few of the guards and moved to the finishing gate and she stood running into a crate. In time the crate just spontaneously combusted and yet no alive guards even bothered to look for the noise. Yet I hit a crate very gently and they go into high alert.

I can open it up to see it and skip the tutorial, but hear it play hundreds of them overlapping.

Quoting: GuestAlso in fullscreen my panel is still on top. It was working in Trine, strange.
Did you set the mode to fullscreen, or did you leave it on automatic? I use GNOME and when I set it to fullscreen I had the panel too. But when I launched the second time and set it to auto, it went fullscreen...
And yes, I get the magenta tutorial video. Does it work correctly for anyone at all?

Yes, in fullscreen my KDE panel is also on top, but pressing fullscreen shortcut (F11) makes it really fullscreen.
UPDATE: I tried automatic, and it goes into fullscreen right away like adolson said.

Sweet! I've had both the new "Thief" game and "Styx: Master of Shadows" on my wishlist for a long time now (with little hope of seeing a port) and this game looks like it has quite a bit in common with both of them.
Modern 3D, stylish graphics, high production values and a possibly interesting story to boot, we need much more of this on Linux. :)
