Remember the problems I recently had with Dying Light? Turns out it was the fault of Steam. The new beta client should fix issues people have with various games on newer distributions. It also adds a new experimental feature for the Steam Controller.
I have tested it myself, and it does fix the games I had problems with.

Added Store Page link to game library entries in the "Manage Game" section
Fixed Web Browser context menu not positioned correctly on certain screen sizes
Fixed an issue where the overlay would become unresponsive if restarting a game directly after exiting it through the overlay
Linux
Updated ALSA libraries in the Steam Runtime to prevent compatibility issues with newer distributions
Steam Controller
Fixed haptics intensity being stuck to High if anti-deadzone was in use
Setting any anti-deadzone on the joystick will now disable all joystick hardware deadzoning. Note that this can cause drift if the anti-deadzone is too large or if not using a proper anti-deadzone buffer. (Requires Firmware Update)
Experimental Rumble Emulation is now available as an Application Setting. This feature tries to emulate a feel similar to rumble despite haptic actuators being a very different technology than rumble motors. (Requires Firmware Update). Note: if your battery level is very low, heavy haptic actuation can result in your controller spuriously shutting itself off

QuoteUpdated ALSA libraries in the Steam Runtime to prevent compatibility issues with newer distributions
I think this is what was causing endless-loading screen problems with Armello on Arch (unreproducible on Ubuntu 12.04). I deleted the libasound.so files from Steam's folder on Arch, and the problem went away. Hopefully this fix means I won't need to repeat this workaround in the future.

ALSA update is good, NS2 had no sound since some build so I had to symlink my system libasound2.so there. Heard the same happened on Arch but Ubuntu was fine.
For me Dying Light was fine, no crashes or anything aside from the blurry textures issue that was fixed. Maybe it's not a good idea to play on Steam Beta if you want the best experience. It's called Beta for a reason and I also vaguely remember some troubles with it.

i wonder if the problems with XCOM2 are also caused by steam....

They recently did a patch to MESA drivers in 11.2 which is meant to fix shader loading (or recycling), shader loadin is what xcom2 stutters about allot so it might help.
Still disappointing that AMD didn't have a solid driver release yet, NVIDIA is sure taking advantage of having no competition under Linux!

I had no problems yet, though.

Quoting: GuestStill no sound for me in recent Unity games, but maybe it's another issue.Do you get audio in Agatha Christie's ABC Murders? It's a recent unity game and I had the same issue, no audio - other games like Dota2, HL2 worked fine.
Found out that I was missing a simple 32bit library: lib32-libpulse.
Uncertain if it will help, but audio libraries are worth looking into. :)
