SteamOS Brewmaster update 2.63 has been pushed to brewmaster_beta, if you are opted into the beta on SteamOS you will get an updated Nvidia driver featuring Vulkan support.
Valve has been on the 352 driver series for Nvidia for quite some time, so it's nice to see a more up to date driver being used.
Good to see Valve get in on this early, although there's nothing we can really do with it right now. At least when The Talos Principle brings out their Linux beta version featuring Vulkan in a few days SteamOS users can join in on the fun.
Remember though folks, the Nvidia driver with Vulkan isn't yet stable.
On top of that it features the usual security updates.

So if nvidia-355 doesnt work with nvidia-prime? i suggest you try bumblebee (if you haven't already). nvidia-340/346 also did crash for me and bumblebee saved the day. Also you may try to run with "optirun" in order to use the x server of the nvidia card and then it should work!!!

Important is that those engine devs are headed for Vulkan. That they support Vulkan and Linux adds the possibility for us that some game devs will actually support Linux in Future.
Drivers and Engines will need a lot of work in the coming year to get Vulkan as fast as DX12 or even DX11. We knew that it isn't the day 1 solution to everything. But it's a start.
