The wait is nearly over to have Street Fighter V on Linux & SteamOS. The developers have confirmed it will be available for us this Spring.
QuoteAttention Steam users and Street Fighter V players! Our development team is working closely with Valve engineers to bring the full Street Fighter V experience onto the SteamOS platform.
This will be a free update to all Street Fighter V Steam players and will be released this Spring. More news will be shared soon, so stay tuned.
So, Valve are helping with both Street Fighter and Rocket League. I wonder how many others they are helping with.

Some you may have missed, popular articles from the last month:
Quoting: tony1abQuoting: TheBossSo, who thinks it will use Vulkan? Be interesting to see!
At this moment, impossible.
The games we are playing today (this month and the next 2) have been programmed 2 years ago.
And 2 years ago there wasn't Vulkan.
If Vulkan is released now, expect games in the next one or two years...
maybe some companies like Valve who are directly involved have been playing with it for some time, are going to be the first ones.
Also: this game is done with Unreal Engine. This engine handles Linux with Opengl. Unreal Engine still doesnt have Vulkan support.
I am well aware of the facts ;). Was a bit of fun.
Besides Valve are involved in both Vulkan and the port, and who knows how long for. Valve also created a wrapper for OpenGL, who's to say they can't do the same for Vulkan for the short term?

Quoting: omer666P.S. : I tried some KOF not long ago on a Steam Controller and it was the worst vs fighting experience I had since the XBox 360 and its crappy cross. To be fair, I think it's the only thing this controller can't handle. I think it's time for getting an X-Arcade...
Set the left touch pad as touch. I had no problem doing moves like Clark's running three or Geese's raging storm after that. The dpad is still better though.

If UE devs have access to the Vulkan spec like Valve and many others do, they could have upgraded UE to Vulkan. Valve working with Capcom could have helped them to implement Vulkan as well.
We may very well find out during GDC in March and shall see.
Well if the rumors are true that the PS4 will support Vulkan then it is possible.

Valve needs to start getting on these partnership projects much earlier so that their operating system is treated on equal footing with the others, then more people will start taking it seriously and look at it as a viable option. The Rocket League delay is ridiculous, and now this - perhaps the biggest news since the SteamOS launch, that a Japanese company is bringing a huge fighting franchise to Linux - has been delayed... And Valve is directly involved with both. The mind, it boggles.

I did this as well, but as a vs fighter player, I need much more physical response than this. If you know about a great gamepad in that respect, I'm taking any serious suggestion. But in the end, I know I'll be getting an arcade stick. I'm looking at X-Arcade but at some cheaper Sanwa-based solutions as well.

This is not a delay, as no release date for SteamOS was announced, this is the first time they have mentioned it. Rocket League is another story, and the delay there is a bit silly.

Not a serious suggestion, but i remember the last gamepad with a truly great dpad was the Sega Genesis 6 button arcade controller. Street Fighter 2 was awesome with that controller.

Yes, there was an official SEGA Saturn USB controller some years ago but nowadays it is pretty much overpriced.

For that price I'd rather pick an X-Arcade any day. Oh and I doubt the cheap copies we find all over the internet are worth the expense...

Quoting: TheBossWell, it's not launching simultaneously with other platforms. In that regard, the release is delayed compared with the PS4 and Windows versions. My point is not to argue semantics, but that we keep getting everything days, weeks, months, or years after everyone else. A lot of times it is understandable, but when Valve is directly involved, it's more sad than anything.Quoting: adolsonValve needs to start getting on these partnership projects much earlier so that their operating system is treated on equal footing with the others, then more people will start taking it seriously and look at it as a viable option.
