Sounds like testing has been going well:
QuoteOh! This is a misunderstanding: I meant we've had very few people report that there are any issues with the Linux build, after using it. We have about 300 people using it currently.
We're making progress, and will share news when we have it. Please do bide your time if you'd rather wait!
There's also this, but shh:
@tintvrtkovic Shhhh... we're working on it. :D

About the game
LOSE YOUR MIND. EAT YOUR CREW. DIE.
Take the helm of your steamship and set sail for the unknown! Sunless Sea is a game of discovery, loneliness and frequent death, set in the award-winning Victorian Gothic universe of Fallen London.
If the giant crabs, sentient icebergs and swarms of bats don’t get you, madness and cannibalism certainly will. But that old black ocean beckons, and there’s loot for the brave souls who dare to sail her.
Betray your crew, sell your soul to a Devil, marry your sweetheart. Survive long enough and you’ll achieve your life’s ambition.
You will die, but your legacy will live on…

If you have a copy of the game they'll give you the code to unlock the beta linux version. I've only run into a couple trivial bugs so far. Very polished!

Very, very pleased with this. I emailed them a while back asking about future Linux plans as I wanted to buy it but had been burned too often with promises of support which went nowhere. I believe it is built with Unity and already runs under MAC so seemed odd that it wasn't ported to Linux too. Looking forward to picking it up when it releases.

I've wanted this for quite some time as well. At first, it was because I thought it was some kind of Lovecraftian horror game but as I learned more about the game it seemed fascinating enough on it's on merits.
Hope it shows up soon.

I've played it a few times and it's quite fun, albeit VEEEERY weird. The devs seems very nice too. They've actually had a Linux alpha for quite some time, now, and anybody who had a proof of owning the game could request the tarball. In fact, they have stated multiple times that they wished for a proper Linux release but as they lacked the recources and time - they couldn't do it, but if ever possible they will finish the port. I hope this is a good lesson to all of the haters (you know who you are), who sh*t on any developer who admits to lacking time/skill/resources to port for Linux. Anyway, wait for the final release and buy it. It is well worth it.

I emailed the developer quite a few weeks ago and they provided me with a link to download the alpha version for Linux.
I just recently received an email from them with instructions to access the beta build directly through Steam. That sort of surprised me... I guess they actually keep track of who is testing the game and provided direct notification for updates :O
I've never had the game crash since I began playing/testing the Linux build. The latest update fixed some issues with some of the settings menus (which were semi-unusable, but easy to set graphics settings etc. through the games config files). There are still a few minor graphic issues and text alignment/layout problems but they are few and far between. I haven't come across any game-breaking bugs, just minor aesthetic quirks.
Good game, very interesting and well written.

I didn't know they were working on a Linux release, and now I'm glad to see they're pushing for it. Will have my money ready when it's done.
