Great news! The update to Arma 3 on Linux has landed, bringing us up to 1.54. Not quite the newest, but better than what we had.
There's plenty of new content and fixes in the 1.54 update you can read up on here.
It's a huge update, but it's not without issues. I have reported them to VP (the porters).
Issue list (Tested on Ubuntu)
For some reason the game will revert to low textures for me constantly. Sometimes the option to go above "Low" on the textures dropdown doesn't even exist for me. Sadly due to this I've only done limited testing, as it looks quite bad on Low.
The audio will often totally bug-out on alt-tab.
BattlEye still isn't supported yet, but it should come down the line in future since it works on Linux now.
Some you may have missed, popular articles from the last month:
The texture issue you mention is a old one, basically for videocards of 4gb or less it becomes a issue. My 390x has 8GB and thus it allows ULTRA textures without a hitch, I heard the 980Ti also allows Ultra. I reported the bug way back in the beginning.

I have an Nvidia 980ti, 6GB VRM.

Not just me then, confirms it's not my system being weird.

The low textures is only a in game settings error, more exactly the higher settings are still applied despite what is displayed in settings.

Downloading now, but in terms of performance with 1.42 I was getting a minimum framerate of 60, up over 100fps at times, with everything on max except draw distance which was reduced a bit. (GTX 970 4GB + i7-4790K + 16GB RAM).
This seemed to be in stark contrast to many Windows users who were seeing lousy performance with the same hardware.
If performance drops with the latest version I'll be very disappointed.

Quoting: GuestEveryone has a great framerate, when sticking in Singleplayer. The performance drop comes within multiplayer environments, due the rendering and processing of AI and assets which is done by every client by its own.
That's not entirely what I've been reading on the forums - yes, multiplayer is bad for almost everyone, but a fair number of people are also complaining of bad framerates in singleplayer including a couple I interacted with who have the same setup as me. I have no explanation for it, but it seems the situation is a little more complicated than which hardware you are using.

not having any real issues apart from the sound issue, which comes and goes randomly.
