UPDATE: Seems it actually will be a day-1 release according to a developer:
QuoteThe text on the page is incorrect and will be adjusted.

The Steam version of SoD will support Windows, Mac and Linux at launch, on March 31st.

They have already updated the homepage. So Dragonspear will release on Linux on March 31st.

Looks like they have some real problems communicating within their own team for such incorrect information to be put on the Dragonspear homepage.

Original article
Sadly the new Dragonspear expansion for Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition won't see a day-1 Linux release.

Beamdog has just updated their FAQ, and the release was originally just this:
QuoteQ: What platforms is the expansion going to be on?
PC/Mac on Beamdog and PC/Mac/Linux on Steam platforms. iOS and Android to follow shortly thereafter.

And now this has been added right above it:
QuoteQ: Will the expansion be available on all platforms at release?
Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear will be available for PC only at release, Mac and Linux to follow shortly thereafter.

They announced in the last day or so that it will release on March 31st, hopefully Linux gamers waiting on it won't be kept waiting too long.

What is Dragonspear?
Baldur’s Gate: Siege of Dragonspear adds a new chapter to the Bhaalspawn saga. The events occurring between Baldur’s Gate and Baldur’s Gate II are at last revealed in this 25-hour expansion pack for Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition.

Whoa, that´s quite a relief. The BG games are among my all-time favorites and I am really eager to see if this special "in-between-game", can live up to the old titles. I´ll pre-purchase as soon as the listing goes up on steam! ^_^

I'll wait for it on GOG.

Overhaul / Beamdog have been a bit hit and miss in my opinion. I like some of what they've done, and don't like other stuff.

I'll still pick this up, because, well, Baldur's Gate, but I'm not holding my breath that it's going to be remotely as good as the original content.
