I am really excited to play Cossacks 3 as I love real time strategy games, and the graphics do look great. This new video is a bit of fun showing off "diplomacy".

Linux is still listed at platform, so with any luck it will be a day-1 release.

Having another high quality RTS will only improve our image, and I've never played a Cossacks game before so it's quite exciting for me. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Quoting: GuestThere's a huge difference between RTS and board or turn-based strategy. Comparing Civilization to something like Dawn of War II which is also coming out is comparing apples to oranges.

Linux hardly has any RTS games. I'm not sure about how good Cossacks 3 is, but Dawn of War II (and hopefully III as well) will be a very welcome addition to Linux gaming.
Dawn of War II isn't announced for Linux, is it? :)

Looking at the trailer, its a pity the ones hurdling through the woods wont slow down compared to the one that have a clear path...

It's a pitty the death animation is all the same - not according to physics. It looks a bit weird if all that big army dies.

It hasn't been announced, but it showed up on SteamDB: https://www.gamingonlinux.com/articles/warhammer-40000-dawn-of-war-ii-and-expansions-look-like-they-are-coming-to-linux-steamos.6766

Quoting: cRaZy-bisCuiTI do LOVE <3 RTS games! What do you mean by "another" RTS? I don't know ANY major RTS on Linux apart from the (still buggy) 0a.d. which I do love! I'm not sure though if I'll Cossacks - I just don't knot the game. I'm happy to see a day 1 release!

Well we have the Planetary Annihilation games and Company of Heroes 2 which are two traditional ones, but I meant "another" as in we will actually have another.

What about that pretty-looking one that happens in the dark? What was it called . . . Nightside! That was it.

Quoting: wolfyrionI think that I will need people to explain me why they like strategy games so much... :|
I have tried so far everything that is out, Civilization, Total War: ATTILA, Crusader Kings,Europa Universalis and so on...

So what is so special ? :o?

It's just sasifying to be able to have large battles but being able to be apart of it. Look how awesome Ages Of Empires brought for fun and the ability to wreck havoc. The option to support or make allies, could you come rushing for aid with your own army to your allies location while they're suffering a heavy invasion?, could you choose to betray your allies at the worst of times and hit them hard while they're weak?, would you prefer a massive battle colliding together like in the latest Hobbit films?

It brings much more fun with what you can create to become a strong faction and many things and decisions you can choose to do what you want and whenever you want it. (Take LOTR Middle Earth Titles for my examples , not on linux though sadly.)

This is exactly how Cossacks is, they cut a few corners to allow massive numbers of troops in a battle. I played Cossacks: European Wars and the expansion a whole lot as a kid so I am really pumped for this! It looks to be very much in the same vein and the terrain looks really nice!
