It seems a bit of "human error" happened with the latest Humble Indie Bundle and Sunless Sea. Humble were accidentally selling "Lifetime Edition" keys which gives access to all future DLC when it was supposed to be normal keys.

The current keys from the bundle will be revoked in a few days, so keep an eye on your emails with a link to the new key. It should just come up in your purchases if you're logged into Humble anyway.

The developers said this about it:
QuoteLifetime Edition keys are for our Kickstarter backers and everyone who bought the game while we were in Early Access. We moved to the current keys, just named SUNLESS SEA, on the day we launched. About 35,000 people bought the Lifetime Edition.

The issue with the wrong Bundle keys being given out was human error, which happens. Humble have stopped selling the incorrect keys, so it only affects a proportion of the Bundle Purchases. If you didn't get the email, you're fine.

We thought long and hard about this, and decided to replace the keys given out in error. We did this to honour the lifetime free DLC agreement we made with Early Access and Kickstarter backers, who supported us during development.

Regarding this having some kind of effect on your Steam account, or if you've already given away the new key, Humble support can help: http://support.humblebundle.com.

I haven't gotten an email yet so it seems like I was not one of the ones that got a wrong key. Friggin' fantastic game, by the way.

I am sure some people will complain, but I think it is definitely fair. Though it'd be nice if they just let the Linux users keep the Lifetime keys, since most of us wouldn't be buying the game during the period of time when there was no Linux version available. But still a fair decision in the end.

I really want to know why people like Sunless Sea so much, seems like a boring underdeveloped game without content or excitement.

No diss intended, what I want to know is what makes it amazing?

I don't know what to do. I already activated the key in Steam and got the email, now I have another key of Sunless Sea.
How exactly are they going to deactivate a key I have already claimed?

If the developers ask valve I'm pretty sure the game can be removed from your account by them at the click of a button, it would be a better PR move for the developers to let people who got the special key by mistake to keep them though.

by next week you will get a steam popup notification with red letters, a bit scary warning ,that the game Sunless Sea has been revoked and removed from your Steam library.

Then you will be able to use your new key to activate it again...

Well I have bought Sunless Sea during the Early Access because they had an experimental build for Linux so I wanted to try it out.

I thought the game was about fighting monsters, pirates and lots of action, battles etc. Didnt check any reviews so I bought it blindly. The good thing is that I am getting free dlcs.

Anyway , After that I have realized that Sunless Seas requires a lot of management ,resources of fuel, food, and sanity in your travels. Is a game that you have to explore a lot.
Sometimes is good and the game makes you to explore more and return back with a good loot or sometimes you explore more than you have to and you die.
Sometimes you can do crazy stuff like put a fight with a giant monster Crab when you have no chance to win and you just die.
if you are like me that you dont like exploration, management of resources and a narrative story that means the game isnt for you.

An how do you know if you have the Lifetime Edition?

I don't have Steam, so downloaded the installer via web in my library of HumbleBundle.

When I run the game it said there's new stories to download.

As the game menu's said, I made an account and download the new "stories" (missions and stuff).

Could that new stuff be part of that extra DLC of Lifetime Edition or I'm wrong?

PS : It's the blind of me, or this game has such an annoining small font?

Interesting setting. Great writing. Awesome atmosphere.

In the end, it's a roguelite game where you will visit the same areas and have some of the same events again and again and again. What makes or breaks those events, in my opinion, is how well they are written, how interesting the characters are, how immersive is the atmosphere. In my opinion, Sunless Sea hits a home run in all those areas. It's just such a cool place to explore and the writing is so strong.
