GOL Asks: What have you been playing recently?

By -
It's been another few months since I asked this question, so let's see what you have all been up to recently! There's so many games on Linux now we are spoilt for choice.

Myself, I have been playing a fair bit of the strategy game/collectible card game Faeria which I have fallen a little in love with.

We also had a bit of a multiplayer game on Sid Meier's Civilization V with myself, Samsai, BTRE and a fellow named Gnarface from IRC. I have to say, that game has given me a renewed interest in Civilization V, and I hope Aspyr are able to fix the game up soon for newer Nvidia drivers as it became an issue for me. I ended up having to use my Steam Machine with the older more stable drivers.

What have you been playing? Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Right now I'm playing a lot of Age of Wonders 3. Since my new build doesn't have a Windows partition I can no longer play Endless Legend, which may be my all-time favorite game (it's definitely in my top five at least) and AoW3 is the closest thing I can find to it on Linux.

It's like methadone, it's not as good as the real stuff but it helps with my withdrawals.

I've watch +4 Stardew Valley already, my peeps are playing on WINE with incredible stability so far. The FNA Developer even offered to port it as it has so few dependencies.

I'm playing lots of Counter Strike: Source, should get back to Bioshock Infinite but I think the computer ate my saves. Distance is hella fun, exceeded my already high expectations.

Since I learned about UnReal World on this website, I haven't played much else any more. Sure, sometimes I dug out Dwarf Fortress, Kerbal Space Program, and of course Deponia: Doomsday, but those were just short distractions from my new addiction: surviving in the unforgiving wilderness of the UnReal World.
Seriously, UnReal World has a similar 'Just one more turn' feeling as Civilization, just that in URW there aren't turns, but tasks to complete, yet sure enough every 'I'll just fell one more tree' will be followed by a 'Oh, wait, there was a noise coming from my trap, I'll check that out', which in turn will be followed by 'I'll also quickly skin the trapped animal', what leads to 'I should start tanning the skin and cook the meat', and so forth.

For casual gaming Gravity Badgers and Canabalt. For my passion for old school shooters; Strife: Veteran Edition and Unreal Tournament (1999)'s single player mod Xidia Gold. Despite the fact Xidia is nowhere near polished as Operation: Na Pali, it is still quite a challenging mod which resembles the original Unreal.
