I mentioned before that Knights and Merchants was coming back to Linux (after originally being ported by LGP). It is now officially available on Steam for Linux after a short beta, and it uses Wine.
I am fine with this, it's really old, and old games tend to work pretty great with Wine. Not only that, but having a pre-configured game ready to go is always a pleasure.
It's a classic that I spent a lot of time on in my youth, so I might pick it up again sometime now I have a good option.
The developers said this on the 21st of March:

About the game
KNIGHTS and MERCHANTS recreates the era of the Middle Ages. Apart from the purely fictitious geography of our world, all game elements and scenes are based on the Anglo-Saxon period, 1200 A.D. And we haven't used imaginary elements like fabled creatures, either. The player takes on the role of an ordinary captain in the Palace Guard. A conspiracy against the king catapults the captain into a situation where he finds himself responsible for the defence of the last royal province. This is all that remains of the shattered kingdom, which has been split into numerous small principalities and fiefdoms. And now even the king himself, ensconced in his capital, is threatened by enemy armies. This is the starting point of your Middle Ages adventure. Now you must win back all those provinces which once belonged to your king.

I rarely use Wine myself as I can't be bothered getting a game to run using the usual trial-and-error method it takes to make Wine run...basically anything. Without much hope that it will actually run well, of course. Seriously, anything tagged as "Bronze" or "Silver" in their DB is usually an unplayable mess. And that's the majority of the games listed there, after all. Even the "Gold" tagged games usually remind me why I am keeping a Windows partition around. So if someone can bundle me a game with Wine in a fashion that it -feels- like a native port, be my guest. In the end I just want something that runs out of the box.

I was writing this multiple times - if I have to choose from Wine wrapped version or no version I will always pick Wine wrapped version.
However KaM Remake does not work correctly for me - it ignores resolution setting and it is not launched in fullscreen mode.
Anyway, I have 21 hours in game (in KaM classic), all played while being opted to the Linux beta. And I love this title like I used to love it when I was a kid back in the days.
