Hyped about Stellaris? Me too, I've been yearning for a really good and expansive space game like it and PC Gamer have a good gameplay video now up. Paradox also did a video with "Quill18".
There's also this one:
I am worried about it, as traditionally their games have so much depth to them they take a long time to learn. The difference here for me is that Stellaris seems to be everything I have wanted in a space game, so even if it has a big learning curve I will still give it a good run.
About the game
Explore a vast galaxy full of wonder! Paradox Development Studio, makers of the Crusader Kings and Europa Universalis series presents Stellaris, an evolution of the grand strategy genre with space exploration at its core.
Featuring deep strategic gameplay, an enormous selection of alien races and emergent storytelling, Stellaris has a deeply challenging system that rewards interstellar exploration as you traverse, discover, interact and learn more about the multitude of species you will encounter during your travels.
Etch your name across the cosmos by uncovering remote celestial outposts, and entire civilizations. Will you expand through war or walk the path of diplomacy to achieve your goals?

Lack of orbital mechanics makes me cringe, too much influence from KSP :D

PDS has never made a TBS. They're all pausable real time games. You can see as much in the videos. It almost certainly won't have the same amount of emphasis on fleets/combat that Sins of a Solar Empire but there's plenty of superficial similarities.

It has a very strong Sins of a Solar Empire vibe to it, which is not a bad thing.

Quoting: GuestExactly my thoughts about it. Is it going to be a RTS, a "normal" TBS, or one of their normal-for-Paradox extremely deep TBS games? Because Paradox games are usually just way too hard to get into IMO.
Personally, I was wanting something similar to Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion.
Personally, I hope this is somewhere in between Aurora 4x and Sins of a Solar Empire. I don't want *another* simplified space strategy game, and hope that the mechanics have sufficient depth to allow for lots of different strategies (and not just out build your opponents with military ships).
However, I don't want a Hearts of Iron or Victoria in space - as both those games have a lot of micro that I don't find fun or compelling.
I like the small CK2 influences with the leader / heir characters and the heavy EU4 influence this has.
