Darkest Dungeon has had two Linux beta updates since the recent release, and it looks like most of the major bugs are out of the way.

It looks like it's currently suffering from a major issue of the map being blank, as reported by a number of users. This actually prevents you making progress, so it's a bit of a blocker. It looks like that's the only major issue now that's still there.

I have no doubt they will find and fix the issue, but this is why you should probably hold off until the official release.

I am excited as I really want to play it, but the developer has mentioned I probably won't see a key during the Beta, so I will wait for the official release to cover it in full.

I've been playing the Beta for 23 hours already, and haven't had any issues with it (except for the savegame incompatibility between the first two beta versions...).
Makes me wonder what could cause the empty dungeon bug others are seeing. It's probably not a localization issue (what would meanwhile by my #1 guess if something doesn't work on Linux... Many games don't like it when the decimal separator isn't set to '.'), as I've been running Darkest Dungeon with the German locale (which uses ',' as decimal separator)...

I don't think the map issue prevents progress, you just have to restart the game? That's worked for me, anyway.

I've also put in a lot of time since the beta dropped, and I highly recommend it as-is.

You have to spend a lot of gold on supplies when entering a dungeon, and you just get a tiny fraction of it back for unused supplies. Entering/Leaving dungeons without finding any loot will have you bankrupt in no time...

I have tested the linux beta version of Darkest Dungeon on two machines:

- My main rig: i7-4790 @3.6GHz, Nvidia GTX960, archlinux, nvidia driver 361.28-4: the empty map bug happens randomly, but mainly on the first dungeon after game starts. Closing and relaunching the game seems to work, although I had some random map bugs during a game session last week.

- Laptop: thinkpad X201, i5-520m, Intel HD GPU, archlinux, kernel modesetting driver: I never had the map bug. Although the game says it needs OpenGL 3.2 capable GPU it works reasonably well on this OpenGL 2.1 capable GPU as long as you disable motion blur. Perfect for a long train travel :)

The map bug seems to be mainly nvidia related (although I haven't read the whole bug topic on steam forums)
