Note: Feral incorrectly listed an AMD 5770 as the minimum, it's actually a 2GB AMD R7 260X (Driver version MESA 11.2) needed as a minimum AMD GPU.

Feral Interactive have started the week by increasing the hype for the Linux release of Tomb Raider. They have now released the system requirements!

Their wording at the bottom of this news post has me excited, as they state:
QuoteTomb Raider for Linux will be out very soon and will be available from Steam and the Feral Store.

Very much looking forward to completing this one on Linux. It's likely I will livestream it on the release day.

As for the specifications needed:

Minimum
OS Ubuntu 14.04 or SteamOS 2.0 (64-bit)
Processor Intel i3 or AMD FX-6300

Driver version 364.12, does this also mean that the driver will hit into stable version when it's released? ;)

It must be a joke, 364.12 is in BETA.

I know, but maybe it'll be out of beta by the time this game released? There's no way feral is asking the players to install the beta version to play this game right?

I'll go for this, been wanting to get into tomb raider for a long time. ;)

*drools*

Only problem is I already got it. Maybe I should gift it to someone to support Feral.
Gift it to me.
great to see people that switched recently, rebuying it to show support. Only Linux gamers do that :D :)
That's me. I 've created a new Steam account only for Linux games..

Old one with Windows games: http://steamcommunity.com/id/Digital_CHE
New one 100% Linux games: http://steamcommunity.com/id/DigitalCHE_Reloaded

I will usually only rebuy a game if it is for a DRM free copy but I may make an exception. Depends on the price.

Feral did a boo-boo, the actual AMD GPU minimum is:
2GB AMD R7 260X (Driver version MESA 11.2)

Not the 5770 originally listed, article updated.

With Catalyst being dropped soon on Linux, isn't it a bit of an obligation?

Whelp, 260X should be quite comparable to my HD 7850, but still... Driver support could mess this up, afaik <.<

Arch is already on 364.16.
But I can't figure out, if this is Beta or not. The latest version, I can find, is 364.15 (beta).

They decided to use the 364 version because something good is about to happen (or at least a new pattern) with the new drivers, it's like the problem of floating head in Shadow Of Mordor, they needed to fix the bug to work in new driver, and with the patch I had no regression, in fact it is working better than before.

364.16 is the vulkan beta

* Nvidia added [initial experimental vulkan support](https://www.gamingonlinux.com/articles/nvidia-release-linux-beta-driver-with-vulkan.6663) in some 355 drivers.

* Later they started the 364 linux beta branch, the first of which being [364.12 with vulkan, mir/wayland and kms support](http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=NVIDIA-364.12-Linux).

* Then they updated the beta driver to [364.15](http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=NVIDIA-364.15-Released) which fixed some bugs.

* Finally they released a vulkan specific update to 364; [364.16](http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=NVIDIA-364.16-Linux-Vulkan)...

* To make things more confusing, in that time they also released [361.42](http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=NVIDIA-361.42-Linux) in the stable 361 branch to fix some bugs!

* Even worse there is also a "short lived branch"; [358.16](http://www.nvidia.com/object/unix.html).

So to summarise there are three (main) nvidia drivers currently; 361.42 for "stable/361", 364.15 for "beta/364" and 364.16 for "vulkan-specific-beta/364". You could also use the ["Short Lived Branch," currently 358.16](http://www.nvidia.com/object/unix.html).

Take your pick!
Those requirements tells me that this release will NOT be a NATIVE Linux port, just a windows wrapped game.

If they tell you that, they are lying. ;)

Feral does "real" ports, but that doesn't automatically mean performance parity.

Go Linux! I'm super happy that we're finally getting a decent flow of AAA games to our machines. I'm excited for this game!
