Stellaris, the soon to be released space strategy from Paradox is now available to pre-order and it also has a new trailer.

I'm going to be honest, I broke one of my own self-imposed rules here as I pre-ordered it personally. Paradox don't usually give me keys (they did for Cities Skylines, but now they don't reply to me), and I want to play & cover it on GOL so it was a must for me. I also now don't have to worry about having funds available at release, so that's quite handy for me. Samsai will make sure I go to hell for pre-ordering it don't you worry folks.

Check out the sweet new trailer:

You will go to hell... be sure! :D

To be fair, I see nothing wrong in breaking that rule for a game put out by a company who arguably has the best Linux track record out there. The chance of getting burned is so minuscule, I think they earned your cash.

But just to be sure you're not going to hell, you should delete your Windows partition just in case :D

I'm trying to be patient. We'll see if I can hold out.

Great, another Paradox game that I'll play for dozens of hours and still feel like I've barely scratched the surface.

I did that months ago. I had Windows 7 update get stuck in an unrecoverable loop, said, "Screw it!" and nuked the partition from orbit (it's the only way to be sure). Haven't missed it.

Paradox games are auto-buys for me. And I never made a vow not to preorder from a company I trust, so here I go! :D

I wont preorder. Paradox has a track record of unfinished games. So after its release, hopefully this game will be as good as it seems and bug free :). Then i will buy it.

EU4 had quite a good release. I bought that on day one and didn't have a single problem with it.

Thats good :) But HOI3, EU3 and Magicka etc. They have improved sure(they nearly went bankrupt because almost everyone waited for the first addon to buy the game knowing that it would be vastly improved then). Hopefully they will continue to release better games day one. But IMHO there is never a reason to preorder a digital product.

Yeah, I agree they don't always feel as complete as when a couple of expansions come out, but I had great experiences with EU4 and Victoria II - being the most recent PDS games I bought at launch. EU4 is actually the only game in recent memory which I reordered, and I never regretted it.

Can't speak for Magicka since I don't own it, but that's not actually developed by them anyway, only published.

Either way, I'm going to wait for launch and see how the reviews are. It's a new IP so I see it as a risky thing to preorder. If they came along with Victoria III or something though, I'd preorder without a doubt so I could preload it and play the second it's launched :D.
