They say it's a small side-project game and their "personal veto against what is happening in the Middle East nowadays" (their words).
A game where I can blow a load of terrorists up? Sure why not. I wouldn't take this game too seriously though, it's just an over the top action game really.
Find IS Defense on Steam.
Some you may have missed, popular articles from the last month:
It reminds me of "Moorhuhn" with a terrorists background. I'm not that amused by the game actually. You said one shouldn't take it to serious ... still this kind of demonstrating a war (like shooting Moorhühner) is not a thing I like.

It's actually a pretty fun game. If anyone here is old enough to remember the Beach Head games, it's basically a modern version of that. You're in a motorized turret that can spin 360 degrees and you mow down enemies. Simple as. You have a machine gun and a rocket launcher and can call in infantry, air drops artillery strikes and such. There are only 3 maps, but it's a score attack type game where you play the levels again and again trying to last as long as possible and kill as many enemies as possible, all while earning persistent XP used to skill up perks. It's a simple arcade style game that's executed quite well, looks good, and runs well (at least on my machine). As for killing ISIS, I don't see how it's any different than killing Russians in Tomb Raider or Koreans in Homefront.
My biggest gripe with the game is that it only has 3 maps. If it were a $30 or even a $20 game I would complain about lack of content. At $8 it's not a generous amount of content, but I feel it's reasonable. Anyway, I'm having fun with it. It's good mindless killing fun.
Here's a short clip of me playing the game:

Absolute majority of video games are about killing hundreds or even thousands of enemies, so nothing really different here.
As for choosing an actual terrorist organisation as enemies... well, if there is somenone I don't mind pointing a gun at, then ISIS is definitely on the list.
It seems to be a cool game for blowing off some steam, if nothing else.

NATO? Shooting at ISIS? Kind of unrealistic. Shouldn't it be either the Syrian Army, Russians, or maybe Hezbollah, manning that machine gun?
Maybe there should be a NATO espionage game about carefully siphoning weapons, money and trainers to ISIS.

that was hardcore one. and True true USA soldiers are no match to Russian Elite and Iranian guardians squads.
and i would prefer being Chinese soldier that shooting invader USA army in Syria. So lets try to find a way to modify game or lets make some community modes.

If IS manages indeed to reach the borders of Europe it means they have already overran the Syrian Army and Hezbollah. So, yes, it would be NATO shooting IS.
And it's called IS, not ISIS, hence the game's title.

Sadly it's broken on an AZERTY layout, remapping is possible in the game but it doesn't work right now. I hope they fix it soon, because having to switch the keyboard layout every time I want to play the game is annoying.
Good news the game is going to have mod support, so there will probably be more maps done by the community.
