DX11 when?

DX11 when?
When it's done? How long it took for DX9 to mature?
Don't get me wrong, I would love to see DX11, especially when all the new Dark Souls games are released with DX11 support, but Wine developers resources are limited and it might take some time. More than I would like.

This whole "run Ubuntu on Win10" makes me think if Microsoft loves Linux so much why don't they be more open and helpful in building Wine. They're not supporting old games anyway. Old games usually run better on Wine.
Saladien Apr 16, 2016
They dont love Open Source or Linux ;). They did that to get developers back. Or to say it better they only "love OS" when it serves them in any way.

@Saladien That's what I think too.
I think OMG! Ubuntu!'s attitude towards Microsoft and its plans is naive to say the least.

Thing is, I was looking (and albeit probably not too well) and I can't find ANY news on the development since the January blogpost on codeweavers page. I can see into software development a bit and I would love to gain access to some tracker or repo where I could look at what's being done and how's it going, or a forum or a mailing list, but I can't find anything!

Does anybody have any info about this?

Maybe you could become an advocate and help them.

@Teal: Everything related to wine development lives at winehq.org. The public git repo can be found here. Whatever Crossover does with their commercial products is done behind closed doors, but their wine contributions end up in wine's public repository and are discussed on the wine-devel mailing list.

For use DX11 mode this needed some steps

Winecfg needs put in windows to imitate: windows 7 and in wine register needs have on direct3d wine section this entries:

MaxShaderModelGS set on 5

MaxShaderModelPS set on 5

MaxShaderModelVS set on 5

Respect game runs considerably slow on DX11 mode (unplayable in this point) without forget issues in some objects like plants and some enemies

Other issue stay on excesive cpu use compared with DX9 mode

:)

Yeah also put in winecfg windows to imitate on windows 7

In my case configure per app (in this case dark souls 3) because my default windows version to imitate is windows xp

Maybe can try, however in various test for example with farcry 3 DX11 only shows black screen and many information on console (DX11 just born maybe in future updates can improve)

Almost forget very important detail, i dont have dark souls III for now

^_^
