A big fan of the game myself, but more on that from us later at the release.

You can visit the Feral mini-site for more information right now.

I will hopefully be livestreaming it later this evening. Likely around 8-9PM UTC, so keep an eye out penguin gamers.

Quoting: IlyaI somewhat miss the times when it was possible to play all the games on Linux...

I understand that feelings somewhat. :o)
I used to be very hungry for new Linux games,
now I wonder where they will end up in my stack of shame.

... and of course, that's great! :D

Quoting: nIQnutnwithout demo, I won't buy it due to nvidia driver requirement.

Ups, I forgot that.
I'm not eager on installing a driver not contained in any Debian distribution...

Well the Debian packagers are all a bunch of loons ...

Proprietary drivers are not the work of Satan, and if you were really concerned about it you'd not be able to drive a modern car, watch TV or make a phone call because all these devices, even those based on linux, use binary drivers and firmware.

If that fails to change your mind, consider the fact that you're refusing to use a closed source driver to play a closed source game - that doesn't make a jot of sense does it now?

Mind to click the link?

Debian does package the non-free drivers in it's non-free repository, they just didn't yet package the new version.

You can still use the driver you are using at the moment. I'm using 361.42 driver with Ubuntu Mate 16.04, that is the recommended driver that's in the proprietary list.
With Grid Autosport, I wasn't able to play with older driver.
So, I don't buy games I can't play, maybe if other players confirm it's possible.

My sincere apologies for that Eike, I did follow the link, but I didn't realise what you were trying to say. I'm too used to hearing complaints from people about not wanting to use the proprietary drivers and I just assumed that's what you meant in this case. Again, I'm sorry.

Spoiler, click me
Although my point about Debian packagers being loons still stands, they don't carry the latest version of _anything_. Frankly it's a miracle that the driver they are shipping isn't 5 years old :)

Debian based distros would be my absolute last choice for a gaming or media system, their ethos that old === stable is at complete odds with the fact those systems benefit most from cutting edge developments, whether it's better driver performance or support for the very latest tech. I'm not even happy that their niche is the server, or at least not a server behind a modern site unless you're happy developing applications based on already unsupported versions of frameworks, databases etc

BTW, where is this minimum driver version requirement that everyone is talking about? I can't find it anywhere (game isn't yet on Steam and nothing on the Feral site about linux requirements).

Quoting: GBeeAgain, I'm sorry.

No problem, I expressed it unclear myself.

I'm packaging two programs for Debian, so I'm one of these "loons". (I looked it up and I'm still unsure how harsh the expression is... :o) ) Last time I looked, Ubuntu never cared to pull in a new version until I did for Debian, so Debian always had the newest version of my packages. I guess this is not true for some central packages, but I think it still holds for the vast majority of stuff.
