I am really excited to get back into Albion Online after they do the player-wipe, and the next few updates sound massive. The new update is named "Darian" and part of it is already live on their test server. You can see some initial patch notes here.

They are re-doing the entire world and splitting it up into different biomes. I am excited for that, as it will make the world feel a bit more natural and alive, not to mention more interesting. This will be in the version after "Darian" later this summer.

As for what's coming in the next update: 12 new spells, the ability to "Study" crafted items which reduces the grinding needed for crafting. Many animation improvements, like swapping weapons for tools when crafting. Lots of bug fixes too.

I really do love how much effort these guys are putting into the game, and taking on feedback from users.

One of the main reasons I am excited is that once the final wipe is done, this will be one of the best MMO games available on Linux. We have hardly any and Albion Online is already quite popular, so that's good news for us. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Last time I checked the game looked quiet PVP heavy. Is that still the case? Would it also be possible to play the game PVE only?

Why are there so many articles about this unreleased game?
It looks truly medicore, I don't get why it is getting all this attention here.

It has quite a bit of PvE, there are multiple dungeons to do with different enemy types. Most of the earlier game won't really have any PvP.

Maybe I like it? It's also not unreleased, it is released and playable, it's just in Beta.

That is how I felt about The Original Divine Sin or whatever it's called. There were so many articles posted about it that I eventually came to despise that game. It kept getting delayed I think, causing the excess of articles.

Personally, I don't like their pay model. Seems like pay to win.

Well, yes, but the difference in this case is that while D:OS was a AAA and an award winning game, this is a unimpressive looking mmo grinder with pay to win mechanics (or so I heard).

Seems that way, the number 1 item on the "What is Albion Online" page is about PVP.

Only the most skilful fighters will leave the field victorious!

Not much point me playing it then :(

Even the second feature mentioned, 'Farming', they consider only worth doing "to fuel your guild’s war efforts."
