What you can do what Linux always impresses me, but this has to be what has impressed me the most recently.
People have been hacking away at it and it's great to see how far along this is. This video shows off Arch Linux running on the PS4 using the patches found here.

Some you may have missed, popular articles from the last month:
Quoting: TacoDeBossQuoting: manus76Don't worry guys - you can trust Sony will remove the possibility of running linux on PS4 through one of the upcoming system updates. Why give users the freedom to use purchased equipment the way they see fit?
Upcoming? Sony patched this vulnerability a long time ago. This is using old, old software.
In the article there is no mention of how recent or old the system software is and, considering the video is from end of april, one might think it is not very ancient. And not all of us follow every PS4 related news.

Quoting: wvstolzingI wonder why Sony initially had official support for Linux on the PS2 (link, as well as the PS3 (link, only to remove it wholly afterwards. It's not like they had Steam to worry about back then.
There were 2 reasons why sony launched ps2/ps3 with such support, those would be multi-use marketing and most importantly the avoidance of taxes applying to game consoles in EU.
Launching their consoles with support for otheros and whatnot basically allowed sony to pass them as "multimedia centers" or whatever and reduce their taxation.

I guess this will be worth it when the AMD drivers are more mature and Vulkan becomes widely adopted.
