Recently they both added "linux" into the "oslist" on Steam (tracked by SteamDB, here and here).
We should take this with a pinch of salt as there hasn't been a formal announcement yet. I reached out to Deep Silver more than once about it, but they never replied to me. Their original announcements and trailer description also only stated Windows, but it looks like they had a change of plans somewhere recently.
Looks like May 31st could be a busy day. Both titles are developed by Techland and published by Deep Silver.
The games include all previously released DLC, along with improved graphics. You also get a discount if you own the originals which is sweet.

Zombie games taught me everything I need to know about life.

Just today I thought about Dead Island Riptide, and if it's ever coming to Linux ;)
Have both already, and Riptide is working with wine... but in this case... I'll have to buy both again \o/

Good news, even if I consider these games obsolete given that Dying Light exists.

I'm still waiting the trailer's version. It was so disappointing

I see "View PC info" under your guys' avatars. It looks like that survey system is coming along nicely.

I have Dead Island and Riptide, but perhaps they make a discount like Metro Redux if I buy it

I have Dead Island (vanilla game) in my library for over a year and did not even give it a try. Reason? The game was developed by Techland and they've created Dying Light as well. I didn't play Dying Light, but it is very popular and well received and I have an impression, that Dead Island cannot be as good as Dying Light. And it makes me think that this game is a 2nd category game :).
I guess 3 euro for all the DLC and improved graphic is a reasonable price. I just wonder will I ever play it anyway...

this is probably gonna be the first time that Linux may oversell windows copies

That's exactly how I see it too. Dying Light is what Dead Island should have been. It's just so much better on every single aspect.

just look for the massive amount of shit thrown by youtube users on it compared to the fairly positive reaction here.

All it takes though is for 10% of that reaction to be positive and it would still outsell the Linux version tenfold.

Nice, I still haven't won riptide yet. Stopped playing it when I started being in Linux 90% of the time.
I wonder if this is a sign that Dead Island 2 is going to get a port when it's finally released.

Yayyyyy!! I own both on Steam, but I wasn't paying attention when I bought them bundled on sale and didn't realize Riptide wasn't on Linux yet. Whoopsie. Soon I can play both.
I love these games in addition to Dying Light. Dying Light's parkour mechanic is awesome, but its story keeps attempting to foist hackneyed emotional and moral melodrama upon that awesome parkour mechanic. Dead Island and Riptide know what they're about, and even the would-be heavy moments feel like they come with a wink and a nod.
Looking forward to the pulp and sinew splatter these titles will splash upon us soon.

Don't want to pop your bubble, but I finished Dead Island on Linux, with a friend, and for some whole levels, the coop was completely broken (he was on windows). This is the main reason my rant about the coop issues on Dying Light be so recurrent. It seems that they are using the same broken netcode, which is a big shame. That said, it would be great if *at least* on this "Definitive Edition" all these issue would be sorted out, but I wouldn't count on that since DL still has problems with it.

I appear to be a freak for liking Dead Island more than Dying Light, eager for the Riptide release.

On Windows Riptide crashed so much for me in the first level that I put it on the back burner. This was as recently as a few months ago. Hopefully the Linux version runs better.

Aaaaannd then..? Maybe dead island 2 also, hopefully. Sadly I already played riptide, but it wasnt something I really enjoy. Dead Island was so mutch better, and riptide just felt like something they put together fast to milk more money from zombie fans.
And as someone els said before, we got dying light already, So you really got all u want from zombie games.
Just a bow and arrow, some parkour skills and toons of zombies, your in paradise ^^.
But its more titles for Linux so thats good ^^, and maybe the remastered version fixes all the weird bugs dead island hade on both linux and windows.
