Good news zombie slaying fans, as it looks like both Dead Island Definitive Edition and Dead Island Riptide Definitive Edition are coming to SteamOS and Linux.

Recently they both added "linux" into the "oslist" on Steam (tracked by SteamDB, here and here).

We should take this with a pinch of salt as there hasn't been a formal announcement yet. I reached out to Deep Silver more than once about it, but they never replied to me. Their original announcements and trailer description also only stated Windows, but it looks like they had a change of plans somewhere recently.

Looks like May 31st could be a busy day. Both titles are developed by Techland and published by Deep Silver.

The games include all previously released DLC, along with improved graphics. You also get a discount if you own the originals which is sweet. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Some of us don't have Dying Light yet & have to make do with Dead Island.

Dead Island and Dying Light gameplay is different though. Dying Light has a major emphasis on the parkour in it, a lot of quests will involve a lot of climbing and jumping. Dead Island is much more a standard action game, so it's easy to see why they can both coexists.

I decided to upgrade my dead island since it was dead cheap, hopefully I won't regret it if they decide not to push the Linux version out of this new edition, but meh, it was cheap so no big loss.

I didn't see this before (from here:
QuoteStore pages for the original Dead Island and Dead Island Riptide will be delisted upon release of the Definitive Editions on May 31, 2016 (to prevent confusion in the future due to slightly similar listings) but for now they will remain active for anyone who still wants to get the originals. Of course, you will always be able to play them if they are in your library!
Would be weird if they didn't put Linux support in, since you won't be able to buy the original Dead Island after this is released.
