Planetary Annihilation: TITANS looks to be getting a new lease of life after two recent patches have been released into their test builds. Not only that, but an entirely new faction has been created in a mod.

The new patches focus on making mods much easier to install and manage as the game will have a built-in mod manager.

They have also improved the game lobby with lots of fixes. The game chat won't be lost by switching the system and new players joining a lobby will get the previous chat history.

Along with that, they are also steadily improving mod support with lots of new options for modders.

It's really good to see them still provide support for the title with their own fixes, and with fixes coming in from community developers. Looks like lots of general polishing fixes have been making their way in too.

This has me once again excited for the future of this massive RTS game.

You can see the first test patch notes here, and the more recent test patch notes here. The patches are not yet live, you will need to opt-in to the PTE branch. You can find a guide here on how to get into the PTE.

As for the massive new faction mod, it's called Legion and it has a trailer as well as an open beta release:

With the Legion mod there are now two sides, the classic side and the Legion faction. The commanders you can choose are split between the two factions.

Sadly, my big issue with the game that has stopped me playing is the utterly terrible performance at 4K. The real problem is the game has no resolution options. It has scaling options, but that reduces the overall quality and makes the game look noticeably worse. That has actually stopped me being able to play it, shouldn't be any issue for those of you with 1080p monitors. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Does this game have Single Player Campaign? If no, is community of playing people big?
I remember I bought Planetary Annihilation once (without Titans DLC) and gave it a try, but because of the bad performance on my rig I gave it up.

My only wish are fixed graphic issues for AMD cards. Last time when I was trying to play I only got a black screen when the game started on opensource drivers and a plenty of glitches on proprietary drivers.

I play it recently (for me) very often, and there in "Galactic War" mode (the single-player campaigns). I love the game, but the worlds are not too different, e.g. I am missing a water planet, and the AI is not too difficult on standard level. Not too difficult means, the AI will never ever attack you in 30 Mins play time or so. I wanted to get comfy with the different weapons, so this was not too annoying to me.

I have no technical issues on my 1080px Monitor with Nvidias proprietary drivers.

Anyone wanting to Test Legions here is a bit late finding out about it. Uber have now shutdown the PTE test servers till it gets pushed into stable. The community have a couple of servers available but in order to use them there are a couple of steps:
- You must be using the PTE version of PA.
- You must edit the "~/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Planetary Annihilation Titans/version.txt" file to contain just "89755".
- And then also install the mod using the community mod manager found in the main menu.

Quoting: wojtek88Does this game have Single Player Campaign?
It has the "Galactic War" which I wouldn't really call a campaign, it just gets you some what ready for multilayer, which is very much the focus.

Quoting: wojtek88is community of playing people big?
We have a relatively small but active community.

I believe there was a fix introduced for this quite some time ago. If not then try add "--software-ui" to your launch options as that used to fix it for people.
