Probably one of the more interesting releases of SteamOS recently. SteamOS 2.80 is now in beta which brings with it some fun changes for AMD GPU users.

Major changes for this update is the inclusion of the new RC1 AMD GPU PRO driver with Vulkan and VDPAU (Video Decode and Presentation API) support.

This new AMD driver is currently only enabled for the "Bonaire" generation. It will be rolled out for others as AMD finishes up testing on it.

Hopefully they will also get around to updating the old Nvidia driver currently included too.

It also brings in security fixes and other general package updates.

I'm really pulling for AMD to knock these new drivers out of the park. I want my future GPU purchases to be AMD but not if the performance isn't close to Nvidia.
