AMD are doing something pretty amazing, they will be doing a reddit AMA with the chance of anyone who comments to win one of fourteen of their brand new RX 480 graphics cards.

I think this is a really fun thing of AMD to do, and hopefully at least one Linux user will win a card. I might even enter myself, as it would be awesome to be able to test an AMD card for reports right here on GOL.

When?
Wednesday the 29th of June beginning at 11AM Eastern Time (15:00 UTC).

In my message, I asked about the drivers ;) and mentioned that I'd love to see AMD-ATI be more competitive in the Linux world. (a tiny fib, I suppose)

My guess is that the RX 480 will perform like a GTX 970 on Windows and a GTX 960 on Linux.

A ~200 USD AMD gpu on par with a similarly priced GTX 960 on Linux? That would mean they'd be pretty close in price/performance. A big Windows/Linux performance gap would be regrettable, but basically irrelevant.
