Well this is confusing, but still awesome. Dead Island Definitive Edition and Dead Island: Riptide Definitive Edition supporting Linux/SteamOS is now 100% official.
From their update here:
QuoteWe are happy to announce that Dead Island Definitive Edition and Dead Island: Riptide Definitive Edition now supports Linux & SteamOS!
And don't forget: As a Steam owner of either the original Dead Island, Dead Island Riptide, or both titles, you’ll also automatically receive a loyalty discount of up to 85% off the respective Definitive Edition of the game(s) you own, as well as a discount on the Definitive Collection bundle based on whether you own one or both.
Happy hunting!
Confusing, because Deep Silver told me directly this wasn't happening. I shot them an email early this morning (with no reply as usual) pointing out their tweet and how the Linux/SteamOS versions were actually on Steam. Now hours later it's all official.
Great news. As usual though, proper communication to us would be nice.
Thanks for letting me know zerodogg.
Some you may have missed, popular articles from the last month:

Dying light has improved no end since they patched it a few times, Run it fine now on the prop drivers with a 290x
Just downloading dead island to see what its like :S: Hope they've learnt from their dying light release

To be fair, they told you, "We currently don't have plans for Linux versions for these editions."
So, perhaps the moment after they finished that tweet, they made plans for it and spent the next few sleepless nights making it happen because Linux gamers are that important to them. :D

Quoting: pete910Quoting: lordheavyAnd again, it doesn't work with mesa drivers.....
With??????
With radeonsi drivers (mesa-git/llvm-svn) so i'm up-to-date. The game ask for an openGL 3.3 compat context, mesa can only provide a 3.0 compat context. Forcing the context result in a segfault; i asked a refund.

Thanks for the info. I had the first one and to be honest for £1.80 I happily upgraded. I don't think I finished the article before loading up steam :D

Shit, I didn't catch that you said prop drivers. 15.12? Is that AMDGPU Pro? Anyway, I'm keeping mesa, it works much better for non gaming use.

Awesome news. $3.30 each CAD for me since I already owned the normal versions. Can't pass that up.
