Well this is confusing, but still awesome. Dead Island Definitive Edition and Dead Island: Riptide Definitive Edition supporting Linux/SteamOS is now 100% official.

From their update here:
QuoteWe are happy to announce that Dead Island Definitive Edition and Dead Island: Riptide Definitive Edition now supports Linux & SteamOS!

And don't forget: As a Steam owner of either the original Dead Island, Dead Island Riptide, or both titles, you’ll also automatically receive a loyalty discount of up to 85% off the respective Definitive Edition of the game(s) you own, as well as a discount on the Definitive Collection bundle based on whether you own one or both.

Happy hunting!

Confusing, because Deep Silver told me directly this wasn't happening. I shot them an email early this morning (with no reply as usual) pointing out their tweet and how the Linux/SteamOS versions were actually on Steam. Now hours later it's all official.

Great news. As usual though, proper communication to us would be nice.

Thanks for letting me know zerodogg. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

On Arch we had to install libcurl-gnutls

Has anyone had the chance to try COOP yet?
I simply cannot get it to work and it's making me sad :c

Co-op working fine between one Linux and one Windows client here over LAN.
Ah, hmm. Maybe they require some open ports... I guess I'll have to set up a quick vpn solution and try that way.

Trying over wan through steam, indeed. Both of us just get disconnected instantly (we can actually see it successfully connecting before dying...)

My guess is some software engineer in the company saw the Twitter convo and spent a couple weeks grumbling at management about how it was already almost working anyway. :P
Average 30fps with a GTX 750ti at 1080p (medium preset) with a core i5 4690K, (no overclock)

By the way, I found a texture glitch

They need to improve this...

I don't note much difference between this "Definitive" edition running on Linux and the original Dead Island running on the old windows XP SP3
