Good news for FPS fans as Deep Silver have confirmed again that Homefront: The Revolution is still in the works for Linux.

From twitter:

@gamingonlinux @k4os77 @DeepSilverUK @DSDambuster A linux version is still in the works.

— Official Deep Silver (@deepsilver) June 27, 2016

It's nice to see them keep up with the communication. While the message was short, it's better than the silence we get from many other developers.

They confirmed again back in April, so I hope they are making good progress. It is one I am really hoping to play sometime this year.

Are you looking forward to it?

Will they drop support at release like they did for Dead Island though?

While the issues with that are concerning, Deep Silver own the development studio, so there should be no such issues.

hopefully they will have time to iron out all the bugs the game has before the Linux release.

That one is a complicated case though as the publisher and original developer had a breakup and the developer doesn't have control over the IP, so who knows who is calling the shots.

As for Homefront, despite the poor reviews, I still want to play the game. Hopefully they improve performance before the port. I would hope for Vulkan, but that may be unlikely

Complain. Complain. Kvetch. Whinge. Complain . . .

--- Oh, SNAP! Deep Silver has made yet another AAA (or AA, if one prefers) title available to Linux Gamers? That's awesome news! (--- but wait, no. Mustn't I find something at fault about this game's release? Yes, I believe so. AH!)

"Oh. Gosh darn. This game, it is not to be released during the Steam sale. It is a thing that is not Fair. O woe! O woe! Cry I."

There. That's done.

Thanks, as always, for the update Liam. I thought it was good news, at any rate. I'm glad you shared it. :)

Hopefully it supports AMDGPU-Pro upon release (or better yet, Mesa with its current OpenGL 4.3 compatibility) and doesn't complain on start-up that you're not using an Nvidia card. That behaviour has to stop.

I vaguely recall that I enjoyed the first Homefront, so I expect I'll be picking this game up as well, so long as it's not broken on AMD cards.

Are there any games besides the Feral ports that do this? I'm relly curious because I'm likely to upgrade to a RX 480 in the next couple months.
