Factorio is an absolute gem of a sandbox game and I love it. It's another game I'm terrible scared to load up as I will lose days to it, this new update has me inching closer to the play button.

This new update adds in new networking features, that especially makes it easier to play with Steam friends. New UI options, mod portal integration, fire that spreads through trees, a flamethrower turret and tons more it's a massive patch.

It's pretty amazing for the first few playthroughs at the very least, after you understand all the mechanics you reach a point where you can exhaust the tech-tree without breaking a sweat and that's when you start noticing the lack of end-game content or challenge. That's usually when everyone starts using overly complicated mods or starts giving themselves arbitrary goals...

Highly recommended, totally worth the money, just needs a bit more content...

You described what I was thinking as well. I'm really curious to see what they've added, hopefully it alleviates the aforementioned lack of end-game content.

One of the best indie games out there. This game's devs also deserve all the respect for their work towards such a well-done product.
This is what a triple A game should be, IMO. It's not 3D with the latest and greatest visual effects, but it is top quality overall, and has continuous support and development, from some really nice devs which also listen to their costumers' requests. Even so, this game looks visually amazing IMO... the 2D industrial theme is the most fitting as it offers a realistic feeling, not sight, which is more important IMO.

I could easily spend many hours in this game, just attempting to optimize my assembly lines again and again in a futile pursue of perfect efficiency. This game may look simple but it is actually very complex, or rather the things that you can build with those simple things are complex. So how is this good? Simple. It's enjoyable and satisfying to forever try to improve your builds, not frustrating as it is in other games.

Of course this game is not for everyone, but for those who like building complex "machines"/"circuits" whatever... something in the same category as (but still very different from) Minecraft's redstone builds.

I agree. Evern tho I can play on the same save for about 60-80 hours without getting bored. Maybe it would be a dozen hours shorter if I were to rush for the tech tree's completion early in the game. I also like building huge impenetrable and well-defended walls around the entirety of my area... and roads that connects everything and even the infested wasteland outside. There's also a strong desire to use clean energy and keep the environment healthy. There's plenty of content for easily playing a couple dozen hours without getting bored, in any gameplay circumstances.
But even so, I do agree that eventually, even if it's very late game, you do start to get bored... it happens with every game... this one's about factories, and evetually you have a surplus of every item that there's really no need for your factories to keep running... actually even if you would insist they wouldn't as there's no more storage and they stop automatically. If you play long enough it's gonna be a real storage crisis and you would have to build huuuge warehouses and transport your items there (now that I think of it this one does sound like a really cool late-game challange), tho this would only be a temporary solution since they will too be filled... and, it's all for nothing as they are never going to be used so it's pretty much an arbitrary goal.

Idk how that could be fixed except for even more content for late-game but to be honest, that content will too be over eventually, you can't have a game that goes on for infinity. You can keep adding content for a while trying to make a single game last as long as possible but you can't do it forever, and IMO there already is plenty of content and a game can already last plenty of hours... certainly more than most other games.
We might also get to a point where Terraria arrived... it kept adding content making the game last longer and longer until there was so much content that the average user experience only a fraction of it in a normal gameplay scenario, as there really isn't a need for all of it... and the only area where it does help is replayability but then is reduced by other limitations (reduced diversity of world types being one)
