I need to state again for the record that this is not confirmation, as SteamDB is not an official website and sometimes Linux information popping up hasn't turned to a port, but that is rare.
About the game (From Steam)
As Agent 47, you perform contract hits on high-profile targets in exotic locations around the world. Future locations - in April, Sapienza Italy, track down a scientist residing in the sunny coastal town. In May, the hustle and bustle of Marrakesh, Morocco. And as the story expands you will travel to Thailand and the USA before concluding in Japan later in 2016.
It seems the game comes in episodic form and it currently has three out of seven episodes available.
The game is getting a mixed reaction overall, but more recent reviews have been swaying it towards positive. Apparently you need to be always online, even though it's a single-player game. That doesn't bug me right now since I have a very stable connection, but others aren't so lucky.
I absolutely loved the earlier Hitman titles, but that was way back when I had an Xbox so I have not played any of the recent titles.
I wonder who is doing the Linux and Mac versions, it's possible it's a Feral Interactive port as they already have connections there. That's pure speculation though.
I'm hyped for this. Are you? Not just for the game, but because Square Enix seems to be getting more and more Linux friendly!
Some you may have missed, popular articles from the last month:
Stupid question, but do we know for sure that the Linux port will have the Always on thing? For all we know it could be a piece of Windows middleware that doesn't compile in Linux. Not that stuff like that ever happens. :D

Heh, that's certianly a point. For once some middleware we DON'T want ported over!

Oh dang - at first I thought this was Hitman: Absolution we talked about here. That'd be my highest wish.
But either way, it's in many ways even cooler that we get the very latest releases in this franchise.
Seems Square Enix are happy with the Linux sales so far?

Great news. I'll buy it regardless as I was considering it anyway, will be awesome if it has Vulkan support though. Kind of worried about a GL port as so many GL ports turn out with very poor performance.

Always online DRM for single player? I'll pass.

I was actually trying to avoid this game due to being Windows, if it does go on Linux I'm definitely going to buy!

Yep, must have for me!
I've always been fond of the franchise and can't wait to play it on Linux.
To be fair, I don't care too much about the DRM. As long as it's not intrusive to my system and lets me enjoy my game, I'm OK with it.

Oh, maybe I'll finally get to try this series! The original came out after I'd switched to Linux and I never really felt any urge to try and get it working in Wine, but if it comes natively, I'll be sure to buy it!
EDIT: Still, would much rather have any of the Deus Ex games (especially the upcoming one) ;)

I really do hope this is a inhouse Vulkan port, since they already have a working DX12 version..
